Pegasus Stables
Olive glanced up when Perry spoke, smiling when she saw Journey. She continued singing, just to make the silly parrot echo her."Oh I hope somehow I'll wake up young again,"
"He's...interesting," Olive said. She'd seen Journey around before. Olive had a tendency to remember people's names. Everyone's names. "It's cool that you have a pet parrot. Very piratecore."
"Do you want to take him out for a ride, or are you just visiting?" Olive asked, moving over to the wall to check the saddles. She muttered something about the Ares cabin not hanging the equipment up properly. "His name's Darwin."
"If you're wondering why I'm here, I lost an bet with one of the Demeter kids. It was not my day to man the stables," Olive rested her arms on the little wall of the stall. She wondered why she'd never sought out this girl to talk to her. There was something intruiging about her. Maybe it was because she had a parrot. "You're Journey, right?"
Olive smiled at the parrot again. She thought that she should talk to Chiron or Mr. D to see if she could bring her cat to camp. "I'm Olive, if you didn't already know that."
Olive chuckled at the other girl's attempt to recover the conversation. "You're totally fine. We've sorta met before, in big group settings. You've sat with my friends at the campfire before."Olive recalled a certain time, when a s'mores war had erupted. "Were you the one who got melted chocolate in your hair, that one time when people started chucking food at the campfire?"
Olive laughed. "Oh gods, yes. I remember that! I mean, Ares kids usually suck, so they got what they deserved."
"Yeah. I think his name's Erik, or something like that." Olive shrugged. "I try not to remember the names of people I don't like, but they always seem to stick."That parrot is so funny, she thought. And this girl's kinda cute. Like a statue made of snow...
"So what cabin are you from?"
"There isn't a lot of us," Olive said. "I believe besides me and Nico di Angelo, there are only a handful."Olive looked down at her battered purple Converse. She was kind of mournful about the fact that she didn't have a lot of siblings. She felt the lack of them like a phantom limb.
"Or maybe they don't know about camp, or they don't want to come."
Olive's heart leapt. "Really?" This slyph-like girl, carved out of snow, wanted to be her sister. "I'd like that."
A snowflake landed on Olive's nose. She laughed and brushed it off."Your powers are really cool," she said, not noticing the pun until she said it. "Pun not intended."
She summoned a little curl of shadow from the corner and made it twirl and twist midair. "Mine are kinda lame."
The shadow danced away from the snowball. Olive reached her power down into the ground and managed to coax a little vine from the dirt floor of the stables. It wove around the shadow.A split second later, the shadow soaked into the vine, turning it from vibrant green to ashy gray. The vine desintegrated.
"The vine was magic my stepmother gave me." Olive said. "For some reason, she likes me."
"Persephone," Olive said. "She was mad at my father for all of five minutes when I showed up at his palace last winter. I went there to meet him and yell at him for not saving my mom, but Persephone said she sensed something about me."She shrugged. She liked her dad's wife. It was probably rare for a god's spouse to like their demigod children.
"Anyway, on my 15th birthday, she gave me the ability to control plants. Not as much as, say, the Demeter kids, but over flowers and stuff."
Olive nodded. "The only things that grow in the Underworld are the poplar trees in Asphodel and whatever's in Persephone's greenhouses. It's not the best place for nice green things. Everything's dead."
"Maybe. It's not very cold, though. It's really humid, and smells a bit like wet dog." Olive shook her head. "I really don't like dogs."She'd even tried to convince Hades to replace Cerberus with a massive three-headed cat, but to no avail.
"I've never liked them much," Olive wrinkled her nose. "They drool, they smell, and some of them are too big. Cats are better. They don't require as much attention, they ask for affection when they want it, and they usually don't smell."Olive flashed back to a memory of her old cat. "I used to have a cat."
Olive smiled. "Yes. Parrots are much better."She hoisted herself up so she was sitting on the low wall between stalls. "I've always liked birds. Especially parrots," she said with a pointed look at Perry.
Olive didn't know how to respond. She was trying to be careful of what she said so she didn't scare Journey off. "So.....are there any other Khione campers?" she said.
"I know what that feels like." Olive inhaled. "Wouldn't it be cool if we went and looked for our siblings?"
(yeah, the wisdom saga comes out in 3 days)Olive's mind raced. " We'd have to talk to...someone. I don't know who...I've never gone questing before. Wouldn't we need a third member?"
(yeah lets do it)"I think we can," Olive breathed in deep, then immediately regretted it because they were in the stables. "With those snow powers, and my...whatever it is I can do, we've got this."
(Yeah, quests are usally 3+ people. that's how it was in the books too....hopefully someone wants to come along!)
They walked up to the Pegasus stables, Ja’naya eyeing a certain horse. “This is Crane.” Crane had a reddish mane and dark brown eyes, and I white spot on her chest. The main color of her body was a light brown.
The horse snorted. “I think she means thank you.” She slowly stroked the horse. “I found her just outside of camp.”
“Right when I got here.” She answered.
“Yep.” She said, looking at Anjali. “It’s sad that we’ve never been able to leave camp, though. I would love riding her out of camp.”
Anjali nodded. “Maybe you could ask Chiron to ride her around the border of Camp so you’ll still be safe?” They suggested.
“Maybe.” She said. She looked at Anjali. “You can probably pet her. She won’t be startled. I don’t think, at least.”
“Ok.” She said, smiling. She opened the gate to the stable, and the Pegasus walked out.
Ja’naya hopped on top of the Pegasus, scratching behind her ears.
Crane whinnied and huffed. “Do you have a special animal? Or a pet?” Ja’naya asked quizzically.
“What type of animal?” She asked.

"I don't know why I tear myself down to be built back up again,"
