Ok, here is some advice: look up, fantasy world building questions. they usually have some very advanced questions like: what kind of medicine exists in your world? and ''how do people get married in this world?"
take some time with these and try to get into depth with them. another tip is: write letters pretending to be a commoner or a merchant, what do they feel? how is their life different from your character?

Hope this helps

Hanni 하니 | 1 comments Honestly world building is one of my favourite things when it comes to writing. What’s helped me a lot has been to look at how other authors have done their world building and take inspiration from them. I personally aspire to J. R. R. Tolkien and Frank Herbert. As a starting point I would figure out how you want to structure your world, whether you centre it around one nation, a city, a continent, a planet. From there just ask yourself questions. The internet can help with this too, but some starting questions are “How does this world use magic?” “How is it governed?” “How is the society structured?” “Is there an aristocracy?” “Do they follow a religion?” More questions will come when you start to answer these and develop your answers.

Hadley | 19 comments I’m new to world building because I’m just now writing my first book. What I like to ask myself is cultural questions like the average foods and living situations, religions, ect. One thing I enjoyed about building my world was making the folk tales and history. I also liked making the world maps! I really had to focus on environments and how the world looks.
