Alright imma introduce myself. Hi my name is Storm. I am a senior in high school (12th grade) My classes this year contain Psychology, Reading, Gym (I hate it trust me), Biomedical, Economics, Asia Rising, Writing, True Crime lit, Foundations of Democracy then just study halls.

Some info for people interested in psychology

I was trapped. I was in jail. I had nobody. This was what it was like in a psychiatric hospital. You spoke out, you were punished. You were either put into your room or a seclusion room. You were isolated from your loved ones. We couldn’t even ask for our phones. We had a phone book to put people down and those were the only people we were allowed to call. Staff didn’t really care for us. We relied on other patients if we were having a hard day. This was our day to day life. People normally leave worse than they went in. With the punishments though it would be for the littlest things. One was when they would find out we were either dating or exchanging contact information. They would put us on a five foot peer ban and sometimes a kid is switched to a different unit. Punishments there were rough. You had no freedom at all and it was isolating. Hey, even swearing when we are upset isn’t even allowed. Most teenagers nowadays do swear. The strict rules felt exactly like rules in jail or prison. We have no life while stuck in there.

I am sharing this not because I don’t want people not to go. If you really have to go. But I don’t want people to feel as alone as I was in this situation. Everything bad has something good that can happen. Even though we weren’t allowed to give out contact information, some of us didn’t listen. You make friends in their and even sometimes long lasting relationships. Some people do get the help they need. Even though I want people to not feel alone I just wanna mention that everyone's experience is different. Some people have times like me while others have a really great time.

I want to care for people. I want to help people with their struggles as well. The mental health system isn’t all cherry blossoms and roses. Most kids do not get the help they need. I want to be that advocate and the person to help them through their rough times. Most kids rely on their friends like I did. I was too scared to go to a trusted adult until it was too bad. How I want to help people is by being a forensic pathologist. Another way I wanna help people is by opening a small business for wha I crochet and donating part of the profit to the Alzheimers and Dementia research, donating plushies to kids in need to psych kids or chronically ill kids then the last would be some profit for the Palestine relief campaign.

My main point in this is it is okay to ask for help. Find someone you trust like a therapist or a guidance counselor and reach out. I have always struggled asking for help so I know the issue. But you are stronger for getting help and reaching out. It’s better than staying quiet and getting worse.
