Nicholas LaMarca | 2 comments So I was from 2000 - 2005 a fairly frequent Stephen King reader. The Summer of 2000 I read The Green Mile and the Stand (still two of my favorite books) and they both really turned me into a fairly avid reader. However one of my all time favorite series of books is by far the Dark Tower Series. When I finished the Dark Tower in 2005 I kind of stopped as to me it felt like some sort of end for me with him. I have only read The Cell from him since then. Debating whether or not to get back into his stuff...thoughts?

Mark Sullivan | 20 comments For me, King keeps getting better with time. I've read Revival, Billy Summers, Fairy Tale, and You Like it Darker over the last couple of years, and all of them were great. Billy Summers is one of my overall favorite books.

Turning | 47 comments Fairy tale reminded me of The Taliman. I really enjoyed it. I thought at first I would not. I started reading Stephen King in the 70’s. Yeah I’m a Constant Reader!

Rick | 69 comments I’ve been reading King pretty steadily since I finished both The Shining and Night Shift in February 1980. When he was hit by the van and nearly died, I decided to keep around 10 to 12 books in reserve in case he dies and there aren’t any new books coming out.
In any case, I am definitely a person who considers himself one of King’s “Constant Reader” and I would definitely encourage you to keep reading. While a lot of his books connect back to other books either in localities or characters, there are also a lot of themes that reappear as well, but the real reason I keep reading is the interesting characters and how they deal with the strange situations in which they find themselves.

GT | 6 comments SK did an interview years ago (might have been in his book On Writing) and said that readers told him that his best books were his older books written before he gave up drinking in the late 80s. I've gone back and checked his books and I did see a period where his writing wasn't as appealing from around The Langoliers (1990) to Dreamcatcher (2001) There were a few GREAT reads during that time (Needful Things 1991, Delores Claiborne 1993, Green Mile 1996) but maybe getting sober did affect his story telling. Under the Dome (2009) was when I thought he was FULLY BACK as my favorite writer. Older books (pre-1988) were best though.
