Good luck on the book Neil! Thanks for the summary. I like quotes, got a good one from the book you are especially proud of?
Dr. M looked at me. “Your dog’s name is Rochester?”“Indeed. He was a rescue, and he came with that name.”
“Well, it’s just perfect, because my girl’s name is Janie,” he said. “And in the book, they end up together.”
“Well, yes, but Rochester has to be blinded and disfigured first,” I said. “I’d rather keep him whole and tied to me. And besides, he was neutered, so nothing can come of a relationship.”

Nice bit! How did you come up with the name Rochester? Great name, but in practice I think you would have to call him Rocky for short.
Not sure if you have time to read reviews of other books, but I often like to add quotes to my reviews and you might find them interesting.
In the first book, In Dog We Trust Rochester has been adopted by a single woman in her thirties, and Steve believes she gave him that name so that he could be the romantic hero of her life. I thought about Darcy, Rhett, or Heathcliffe, but somehow Rochester works. It's funny, I have all kinds of nicknames for my own dogs (Brody is Brodelicious, Brodufous and Brominator) but Steve just called Rochester "Puppy."

Someday I will get to more than volume one of your series. yep, I think everyone plays around with their dogs names, like our Tucker becomes Tuckerama, Tuckster, TuckTuck, etc. I don't know if anyone else is looking at our messages, but maybe they can add similar pet name offshoots they have.

Steve Levitan and his new bride Lili hoped for a relaxing autumn getaway in Vermont. But when Steve and his golden retriever Rochester stumble upon a murder victim, their leaf-peeping trip turns into a hunt for a killer.
Dr. Anthony Mihaly seemed like a pillar of the Centerbury community - a respected veterinarian turned successful pet food entrepreneur. But someone wanted him dead. Was it a disgruntled employee? A jilted lover from his past? Or someone with a deeper, darker motive?
As more attempts are made on Dr. Mihaly's life, Steve finds himself drawn into the investigation, with Lili's help. With Rochester's keen nose for clues and Steve's computer skills, they begin to unravel a tangled web of small-town secrets and long-buried grudges.
But the killer is still on the loose - and may now have Steve and Lili in their sights. Can they solve the case before their honeymoon turns deadly?
Full of small-town charm, autumn ambiance, and canine heroics, Food of the Dogs is a cozy mystery perfect for dog lovers and armchair detectives alike. Neil Plakcy's latest installment in the Golden Retriever Mysteries series proves that man's best friend may also be his best partner in crime-solving.
