One of my chief complaints is that this author hasn't put a bio on her GR page, nor can you leave a comment to ask. She doesn't have a website, either, nor any links on her page to any type of social media. Natalie Sue, in the unlikely event you read this, could you please do this?

What I liked about this book is some of the humour, that other than the spelling in my edition and the lack of Canadianisms, it's fairly Canadian and the setting is Calgary. I've known Persian immigrants plus the doctor who delivered my kids came from Iran, but not well enough to know as much about how families work as I learned in this book, so that was fresh for me. I'm guessing that it's difficult to market contemporary romances in the States if you use Canadianisms, which is annoying.

The blurb states that if you like Anxious People and Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine that you will like this book. For me, this book was almost between those two for how much I liked it, so I'm giving it 3.4 stars and rounding it down--I just can't give it 4 stars, but then most books I like get 3 stars. But it's a debut novel, so there is a good chance that Sue's next novel will be better To be fair, I liked the beginning and the ending better, but not so much the second half of the middle 60 percent. But then I have given Fredrik Backman 4 and 5 stars many times but barely liked his Anxious People, so take that into consideration.

LibraryCin | 11805 comments Thanks, Karin! I missed seeing this when you first posted it, but of course as I do the shelving, I see it now. It will be added to the tbr! :-)
