i agree. Like...it is trope-centered romance with fantasy, except the best parts of fantasy were taken away ( good magic system, worldbuilding, unique worlds)
If we look at fantasy as genre ll books are super different, but when we look at romantasy it all super simillar, sometimes they even feel like one the same book.

@sava 100% agreed. I think a lot of authors use romantasy instead of regular romance bc they aren’t sure what to use as a background setting/story for regular romance, so because fantasy is cool, they make that the background. But the details are always shitty in romantasy, because they are lazy on the fantasy details

yeah plus everything is so pretentious bc they try to make people take everything seriously. But if we start thinking ab the book it looks so stupid. For example acotar. Just describe the plot to a normal person and he would think what the fuck
wdym a curse wher she needs to kill a fairy and fall in love with one, and then fight with a fucking worm, but she could not do this bc she could just solve a riddle for a 5 yo children with word love
