Hi everybody. I just went through my workshop notebook and added all the books I wrote down that Bich recommended. I've been making some good progress on my reading lately--I loved Mark Doty's Dog Years and Maxine Hong Kingston's The Woman Warrior. I'm making excellent use of the Philadelphia library system! Would love to hear what all of you have been reading.

Hi Mariah,I didn't get too much reading done on my trip. Began Three Cups of Tea on the way home. Seems like its definitely one I'll finish, though I feel a bit silly reading THE book that everyone is reading for ONE BOOK/ ONE SAN DIEGO, though this might be something that we'd want to think about for a simple SSHL promotion...
I just finished CivilWarLand in bad decline : stories and a novella.
Its great, but Saunders is pretty depressing reading on the way to work...

Well, unfortunately, we cant expect folks to know how, but you have to insert HTML in a certain syntax. Its easy to do though.

If we were so inclined, the moderators could link books when Readers comment about them.

As long as the number of books doesn't become too much for the moderators-I think it would be GREAT to link these books in to Roger. Is the HTML syntax the same as the info in the formatting tips on this page??
Roxanne, you are an amazingly prolific reader! It's all I can do to keep up w/the weekly arrival of the New Yorker. I've been immersed (most gratefully) with paid work, so my creative writing has suffered as well as my free reading time. My book group last read A Thousand Splendid Suns and loved it. Hosseini's ability to portray women characters is astonishing. It's a painful but inspiring 'read.' I was completely invested in the two central women characters.
My other current obsession has been the Jane Austen series on PBS. Completely bowled over by the quality of the stories, esp. Pride and Prejudice. Colin Firth smolders on screen as Mr. Darcy--he's totally hot!
