Renée | 1 comments I’ve read p&p, and am thinking of reading Persuasion next but I’ve heard a lot of people say to save that one for last. Because it is either their favourite or because it is different in tone and also her last published book.
Wondering your thoughts on reading order .
Also thought I should mention I also already own Emma . So that is an option as well

Jan Z (jrgreads) | 120 comments Northanger Abbey is lots of fun or Sense And Sensibility is a good next book. I would say save Mansfield Park for last. it is long and not a lot happens so it is easy to get discouraged.

Jan Z (jrgreads) | 120 comments Northanger Abbey is a lot of fun. Austen spoons Gothic horror. She pokes fun of her characters and it is very funny.

message 6: by Isabel (new)

Isabel Mullins | 1 comments For Northanger Abbey and Mansfield Park, I’d recommend annotated editions so you can understand the cultural conventions and literary references. It helped me enjoy Northanger Abbey so much more when I understood all the gothic novels Austen was poking fun at!
