Lark traced a pattern on her jeans. What was she supposed to say? "Um... so... what do you like to do?"
Lark's face lit up. She was glad to have found a common interest. "I love music! What do you like to listen to? Do you play any instruments?"

"I having really had a lot of time on my hands to learn an instrument though." She said, kind of sad.
"It's hard," Lark admitted. "But if you can find the time, it's worth it." She fiddled with an empty straw wrapper. "Well, what about your powers?"

"What about you? What's your power, if you feel comfortable with me asking?" She asked
Lark shrugged and motioned towards her glass of water. The water froze. "Water manipulation." The ice turned back into water. "Lucky me," she said, half sarcastically, half truthfully.
The door opened and a boy poked his head in, floppy brown hair falling in his eyes. He grinned. "Hey, Tucker sent me over here, said I should meet you guys. I'm Dustin."

'Ah great. Dizziness followed by a headache. Great.' She thought. She dug through her bag and found some Advil and popped some in her mouth.
"I'm Lark." Lark studied Addy. "Are you okay? You don't look so good. You're a little pale." She pushed the water glass over towards Addy, and two ice cubes appeared in it.

"Here." She said. "Anyone who's hungry, eat." She said, grabbing a slice out of the cheese pizza. She didn't know what the others liked, so she grabbed one cheese, one pepperoni pizza.
Lark glanced over at Dustin, surprised then grabbed a slice of cheese. He grinned, pulled over a chair, and took a slice of pepperoni. "Thanks," he said before diving in.

She was hoping no one would question her power. She didn't feel like explaining her other powers, though she would have to eventually.
Lark polished off two slices of pizza, Dustin four. She rolled her eyes. Guys always ate so much. "So, Tucker picked you up, too, Dustin? What are your powers?"
"I can manipulate and create fire," he said, smiling and pushing his hair out of his eyes.
"I can manipulate and create fire," he said, smiling and pushing his hair out of his eyes.
Dustin grinned. "It is. Not as cool as the Human Torch though. No matter how hard I try, I can't do that. What about you two?"
"Water manipulation," Lark said.
"Water manipulation," Lark said.

Dustin hurried over and held the door. "Hey, it's Conrad, right? We were just talking about our powers."

'So.. He likes this girl...' Conrad thought. He felt weirdly protective over her. 'She's the same age Victoria would have been. That explains it.' He thought.
He wheeled up to the table, noticing there was half a pizza left on the table. He looked around at the people. He looked at Addy, puzzled.

"I'm Lark," Lark offered.
Dustin smiled. "I'm Dustin. Sorry if guessing your name was creepy, Tucker mentioned you."
The door opened and a dark-haired boy walked in, looking at them suspiciously. He headed over to a small bookshelf and began poking through the few books on it. "Who are you?" Dustin asked curiously.
He gave them a brief glance. "Cade," he said shortly.

"Nice to meet you." He said, smiling warmly at her.
She turned to Cade's direction.
"I'm Addy." She said. She saw Cade turn to her, and hoped he wasn't looking at her clothes. She really wished she could wear tank tops and shorts- but they weren't an option. Unless she was alone.
Cade glared at the nosy kids, wishing they'd shut up. He grabbed the book he was looking for and stood up, hurrying to the door. "Want some pizza?" Dustin offered. He paused, then begrudgingly turned back to the table. He could never turn away food. Dustin stopped him. "But you have to stay and talk."
Cade grunted and grabbed a slice of pizza, setting his book down on the table. He studied the others while he munched. There was Addy, with her short blond hair, and Lark with her long, slightly wavy blond hair. He yanked his gaze away from her and looked at the other two, Conrad and Dustin. All younger than him. Not that he cared.

Cade didn't react. "Maybe you should act older, then," he said offhandedly.
"You read minds?" Lark asked, amazed.
"You read minds?" Lark asked, amazed.

"wh.. What?" She stuttered.
"That's right. I can read what you all are thinking, as if you say it aloud, but for you, it's silence." He said to Addy.
He glared at Cade, not liking his thought.
Lark looked over at Addy. "You said teleporting was one of your abilities, right? What other abilities do you have?"
"Ah." Lark looked at Cade, who was nodding. "I remember. You're the one who can replicate powers."
Lark looked at Addy in shock. "Really?"

Lark looked at Addy in shock. "Really?"

"At least that means you dress modestly," Cade grumbled. "Not like every single jerk of a girl out there."
Lark cleared her throat. "That's a cool power. Much cooler than water manipulation. Some little girl saw me messing around with some ice and thought I was Elsa."

Addy laughed "haha, ya that's awesome." She said.
Lark winced, and, unfortunately for her, Cade noticed. The older boy leaned forward. "Ah, yes, Lark, tell us about whatever time it was that you nearly killed yourself with your powers."

'This memory was blocked off for some reason- there probably are walls around it to try and forget the memory.' He thought.
Lark pulled a knee to her chest and hugged it, glaring at Cade. But she couldn't chicken out. "There have been plenty of times where I nearly killed myself. Like when I'd go swimming in the river and accidentally start to freeze it. But I nearly drowned when I was little, and somehow I got my powers then." She hugged her knee tighter, not making eye contact. "I don't know what happened there, and I don't really like to think about it much." She attempted a smile. "What about the rest of you?"
