BONES_ | 44 comments So what were you thinking plot wise? I don't mind tweaking a few things

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmm what about something like a warrior alien (your character) lands on earth with some of his men and after destroying a village he steals a human woman (my character) and takes her back to his planet to claim as his? And the only way my human would survive this would be if she were stubborn and not faint of heart.

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

I used to do an RP like this with someone and it was amazing, but then they had to stop and I've since wanted to try it again.

message 4: by BONES_ (new)

BONES_ | 44 comments Oh that sounds great!!! I actually have a character in mind then!

message 5: by BONES_ (new)

BONES_ | 44 comments Is it alright if my alien has two forms? Obviously a more human looking one and then a larger more aquatic one? I guess a mermaid but scarier

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

Oooh yeah!! What if instead of taking her to a different planet, he kidnaps her and takes her down to his watery land beneath the ocean?

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

But the only way she'd survive down there is (view spoiler)

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

And like she just wants to defy him and fight him to get back home but obviously it won't really be possible, so she has to learn how to adjust to living down there?

message 9: by BONES_ (new)

BONES_ | 44 comments Yes!! I like that a lot! Should I describe him rn or introduce him in rp?

Selene waded into the frigid water along the coastline, her bare toes sinking into the soft sand. Her friends were still circled around the crackling bonfire a bit further up the shore, laughing and raising their cans of soda and beer. It had been a good evening, or at least that's what she'd told herself. They'd roasted hotdogs and made an exuberant amount of smore's. They'd told stories and shared their hopes for their futures, and at that point, Selene had stood up and wandered away. Of course a few of them asked if she was alright, like Brian and Emily. Selene had grinned, shaking her head.

"I've played that game a hundred times and I'm tired of sitting," had been her excuse. A lame excuse, but Selene really didn't want to tell everyone that she had no idea what she wanted in her future. Her recent past was raw and bringing up suggestions for the future was scattering salt on those old wounds. Selene's parents had never wanted her anyway, and life at home was awful. They drank and smoked and quite literally blamed her for anything that went on no matter how hard she tried to prove herself. In her last years of high school, she began dating a guy named Trey. Everything was going well and Trey had even offered for her to stay at his place since things were bad at home. She'd agreed and things had continued to go well until the night that Trey told her things had to end. It wasn't working. It hit Selene as a shock obviously, and after moving in with her friends, things kept hitting her one after another as the years passed.

She lost her job when the company shut down and then the college course she was in ended after the professor died and nobody wanted to pick up the program. Selene was alone, angry, and frustrated with how everything was collapsing around her. And only a few months ago, Selene had learned that her mother had died in a severe accident. The last thing Selene had ever communicated to her was how angry she was for being the hated child that she was. It was depressing. Selene wore a smile around her friends but was growing tired of fighting everything.

Selene kicked the water a little and stopped walking, looking out over the horizon where the sun was setting and casting a brilliant gold across the waves. She was hoping to go back to school again next fall and try again in a new course of study. Maybe she could become a scientist and travel the world. But anything she wanted felt like a joke. She'd prove to her mother someday, even if her mother was dead, that she wasn't pathetic or worthless. She'd prove to them all.

The water ahead of herself sparkled, and Selene started running out into the deeper water in her outfit. Who cared if she ruined her shirt with the salt water. Soon her leggings and shirt were plastered against her skin and goosebumps crept up her arms and legs. She'd swim out to the end of the rocks out there to enjoy the sunset better and have a moment to herself.

BONES_ | 44 comments Somewhere deep under the depths, the prince of the sea and a patrol of soldiers cut through the water like arrows slicing through the wind. Beautiful white scales gleamed against an onyx underbelly, accented by royal red edges. These ghostly sirens flowed so gracefully their long bidies resembled ribbons more than fish. One larger one at the center of the pack was swimming with a certain sense of urgency; the crown prince. Oh, how he loathed the surface. But he needed a bride, and sadly most Trench Sirens were born male. The only fertile women in his species were either much older or much younger, or just below his rank.

"Have you an idea, my lord?" a blueish green soldier asked. His name was Abelone, a general's son and friend of the oldest living heir. After no respone, he nudged the darker siren.

"Huecoye?"

The prince turned. White eyes were wide as if he'd been interrupted by his thoughts, but soon they lowere to his usual bored expression. "Yes, yes. You know- the usual. Wild red hair and such, skin as pale as sea foam." Hue answered with a twinge of disdain. "But I was hoping for a soul bond." He answered as a blueish tint flushed his face. He looked a bit embarassed as Abelone laughed. "My Prince, that hasn't happened in centuries! Not to mention how dangerous it is. Just snatch a random girl from the ocean and marry her. You can have plenty of concubines so why hope for a soul bond?"

Hue looked to his friend with gentle dissapointment, somewhat towards himself. "I will split off. Return to the deep palace at sundown." He ordered, rare occurance. But they obliged and soon he found his black and white hair being tossed around by the shallow current, and once his face breached the sea the sun caught him like a slab of obsidian. Having bad eyesight above water, he squinted until he saw a drop of golden brown sunshine... or a person? It was hard for him to tell. He thought of looking elsewhere until he felt a twang in his heart, as if his heartstrings had just been the string of a released bow.

Carefully, the 21 foot long siren slithered against the bottom of the sea until he was just close enough to be seen if he rose to the surface. Practicing his best acting skills from years of plays being forced onto his little royal childhood, he thrashed his tail at the surface and shifted into his human form- looking to be Pacific Islander in ethnicity, with long wavy black hair that was wild and thick.

"Help!" he cried out, and after a moment a nearly giggling at how stupid the thought was, he yelled, "I'm drowning!"

Selene swam gracefully up to the rocks, careful not to be thrown against the barnacle studded surface. She pulled herself up, scattering drops of water over the already wet surface of the black rock and settled down precariously. It was so beautiful and peaceful out here, watching the sunset and putting all current thoughts and concerns out of her mind. Even her friends' laughter faded into a distant background.

Her beautiful golden tanned skin shone in the dimming sunlight and her dark curls hung damp over her shoulders. She wished she could come down here every evening and just listen to the waves, watch the beautiful ocean. It held so many secrets below its surface, she knew that, sort of like her own heart. She would never allow herself to open her heart again, not to be damaged by another boy who called himself a man. She laughed softly to herself, shaking her head. Pathetic.

Selene's mind drifted through a few more thoughts until she was interrupted by the sounds of of a voice crying out and frantic splashing. She narrowed her brow. Had one of her friends followed her out here? Brian never would, he couldn't swim well enough. Yet somehow it didn't sound like Brian... Selene scrambled up to her feet, sharp shells digging into her heels. As she climbed around to the other side towards the voice, she saw a very strange sight. A young man was struggling in the waves to stay afloat; she had no idea where he'd come from all of the sudden but her brain only had a few seconds to consider that he had come from somewhere other than the beach. After all, it wasn't a private beach and sometimes other guests visited while she was hanging out with her friends.

"Hang on! Don't panic, you'll be alright!" Selene called out to the man, hurrying down the other side. She was pretty sure she'd just cut her foot as she slipped down further. "Stop panicking or you'll drown me if I try to help you!"

BONES_ | 44 comments "It's...too hard! I'm sinkinhkk-" Still having gills in this "human" form, he let himself sink, lower and lower, watching the surface send the sunlight scattering a refracting across the waves. It was beautiful... almost as beautiful as the sensation he was feeling in his chest as she drew near. Warm, bright, safe. He suddenly had a flashback of when he'd lay on the sandy shallows and watch the moon from the crystal clear waters. Oh, the beautiful moon. His species worshipped it, usually only coming out of the depths at night to watch the pale luna smile down at them.

Now, he was here, waiting to see the girl with eyes the color of wildflower honey. Black tendrils swirled around his head, whisked around by the water his hair almost looked unnaturally flowy -which it probably was- as it obscured his vision. He couldn't help but panic for a moment. Was she his soul bond? Is this what it felt like? Maybe he didn't want this after all. A human having power over him. The thought made his spine shiver.

Just as she came closer and closer, he felt a predatory instinct. After all, Trench SIrens were pretty rough, even with loved ones. So he didn't hesitate to quickly shift back, lunging forward like a marlin. His tail powered his charge, claws outstretched. But it was a gamble, as in this form he saw even worse out of water. He felt like he was reaching for a golden brown blur. If he did succeed, he'd flip her over and use his charm amulet- a choker that allowed one to withstand the cold of the deep and the pressure of the trenches.

Selene's toes dipped into the edge of the water, one hand curling around a sharp outcrop of rock just above. "Paddle closer!" She shouted at the man, but before she could instruct him to do anything else or make another move, the man shifted into some horrible creature that was springing in her direction. She screamed herself, trying to scramble back up the rock to escape him. Selene wasn't fast enough as she felt claws grab at her, muscles pulling at her with such force that she toppled backwards and crashed into the creature. Bubbles filled her vision and the freezing water seemed to swallow her up. She'd just been swimming, but this was a new shock and she tried to kick away from the creature, thrashing in his grip and trying to reach the surface. She was going to drown. The more she fought this powerful beast, the more air she lost from her lungs. She turned once, attempting to bite the creature's arms that held her tight, and slowed. Her lungs burned. She had no gills; she couldn't breathe underwater. She'd be eaten alive or drowned first. The panic she'd been feeling was slipping away as her mind grew fuzzy. She sucked in water, struggled feebly, and coughed again, but to no avail. Her mind darkened... and after a few more attempts to free herself, Selene went limp in the monster's grasp and her eyelids shut.

message 33: by BONES_ (new)

BONES_ | 44 comments He grinned as she fought back, toying with her by pushing her just to pull her back again, acting as if her bite would hurt against his tough scales. When she did beging to black out however, he fished (get it?) a black ribbon looking thing from around his wrist. It was a black seaweed choker, and hung from the middle was a perfect akoya pearl. And now for the hard part. He stared down at her, and with a worried expression gave her a small peck. That should last just enough to get to a side cave near the deep palace, he trusted his speed.

Hue held her close the whole way back, ignoring how his heart sang to her touch. How his claws trembled against her skin and the sight of her precious body crumpled up in his arms. Maybe he was a little rough... he could help but regret essentially yanking her back to him as if she were a big tuna.

When she awoke, she was in a bubble in an underwater cave- smoothed out and decorated with fishnets, pottery, treasure, and blankets stacked into a bed. The air was cold, and what at first looked like lights were actually glowing algae all around her, a light blue color. A vanity that was definitely stolen from a sunken ship had an array of jewelry, and a dress folded neatly on top.

(It looked like this, but if you don't like it it can be whatever you'd like I just thought it'd look cool underwater)

BONES_ | 44 comments I was thinking that too. He wants to marry her, only (for now) because he wants to be king))

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

It took Selene a little while to regain her consciousness, and if he hadn't kissed her, she certainly would have drowned at this point. When she awoke in the large bubble of space, she was on a cushion of stacked blankets made into a sort of bed, and somehow, weirdly enough, they were dry down here in the midst of the bubble. Her clothes were still wet and plastered against her thin frame, and as she slowly woke, she turned her head to the side and coughed, spewing up water but not being affected any further than that. Her head throbbed a little, but that was naught but a temporary condition.

Coughing again, Selene turned and dragged herself to her knees, wiping her mouth across the back of her hand. Where on earth was she? Had she died? Was this what death felt like? She had never really thought of anything past death but this place was so eerie with the blue algae. She shivered, standing from the stack of blankets and stumbling a little. Selene still felt a bit weak but mostly she just felt a bit frightened and confused. She wondered if she was in a fisherman's hut at first because of the nets and strange trinkets, but the way the room was built seemed wrong. As she slowly inched around the cave, hands gripping her opposite arms in an attempt to warm herself, a distinct and recent memory of an awful creature pulling her down into the dark water flashed through her mind. Selene gasped and turned around, scanning the space about her.

BONES_ | 44 comments Oh good!))

Suddenly, a hand rose from the pool of water from the far side of the room. It seemed to be the only entrace and exit. The hand was much smaller than Hue's and her scales were a pale white with reddish purple webbing. Out came a woman this time, with long blackish red hair and pale, almost translucent skin. Her eyes were a yellowish white like a deep sea fish and like Hue, she had glowing dots plastered across her face, chest, and shoulders. But hers were red, opposed to Hue's white.

"Hello!" She grinned with sharp teeth. "I'm Tsunami, and I'm going to be your lady in waiting. How are you?" She asked brightly. She wore that same black seaweed across her chest, along with a body chain of pearls. Her hair was adorned with lillies and she must've had a ring for every finger, placed at the last joint due to her webbing.

Like a seal, she threw her body up onto the stone floor and with a little balance, she held herself up like a cobra. "Please don't be alarmed, you were chosen! And now you'll be marrying our crown prince! Who's also my cousin- and boy, you're glad you didn't get chosen by Barracuda, he fits to his name well." She winked.

"Oh, he picked that one?" She nodded towards the dress. "Oh well. I thought he'd go with the red one. But erh- yes! Hi! Are you still in shock? It may take awhile."

Selene whirled around to face the pool of water that she hadn't noticed until just now. It was positioned further back in the strange cave-like room and shadowed somewhat. What appeared out of the pool was another strange sort of creature, and the look on Selene's face confirmed the shock she was in. Her naturally olive skin paled to a sickly white and she stumbled backwards.

"What are you?" she blurted sharply, lungs still hurting from the experience of practically drowning - then somehow appearing in this weird cave. She still didn't know how it had happened or what was going on. "Where am I? Don't come any closer." She glanced quickly towards the dress, mind trying to absorb the quick chatter of words this... Tsunami was telling her. Lady in waiting? Chosen? Marrying? She swallowed hard, finding it hard to breathe all over again. "I have no idea what you're talking about. Where am I?" she repeated, struggling to hide the panic in her voice as she steadied herself upon her feet.

BONES_ | 44 comments "You're in the side of the Marina's Trench." She answered matter-of-factly. She seemed hurt by her reaction, clearly she wasn't her experienced with humans. "And I, am a Trench Siren. Not to be confused with regular sirens, we're a little bigger, I guess more... eel like? And luckily for you, we don't eat humans! We prefer whales and large fish."

She rose her webbed hands. "Listen, I'm only here to help you. You need to get ready to formally meet the royal family, you're going to marry tomorrow! It's my job to keep you in good standing so that they won't decide you're not decent enough, and then they might eat you, which ruins my reputation. In fact, I have a small team to help you get ready." She smiled deviously. "You're going to look beautiful- not that you aren't already. Compliments to Huecoye's taste."

And with that, she splashed the surface of the pool entrance to signal to the helpers waiting below. "While they're working, feel free to ask any questions. Except if you can go home. That's a no."

message 44: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 11, 2024 11:22PM) (new)

"Mariana's Trench?" Selene repeated, not believing anything of what this fish woman, or siren, was telling her. The siren was bigger than she was and looked like something out of a nightmare, except Selene was here and living in it right now. Selene took another step backwards. "N-no, I'm not marrying anyone. Marrying someone? Noo. Not me." She felt sick to her stomach and the look crossing her face probably indicated that.

There were several more splashes and three sirens emerged from the pool at the far end of the cave. Each of them had that same translucent white skin and webbed claws. One had red hair pulled back into a thick braid, another had black hair, and the last's was as white as her skin. All three of them were dressed in the black seaweed wrapped around their torsos, and as they advanced upon Selene, their long scaly tailfins morphed into two long legs with webbed feet so they could walk with ease. They introduced themselves; Anemone (red), Tidal (black), and Coral (white). None of them seemed potentially friendly or bothered to try. They flashed their sharp teeth at Selene and surrounded her. Anemone and Tidal grabbed at her arms. Selene yanked against them. "Please, don't do this! I can't do this! You can't force me to marry a siren!" she shouted.

Anemone hissed and Tidal sunk her claws into Selene, nearly piercing her fragile skin - the only reason she did not was because this human was meant to be Huecoye's bride and he would not want her damaged. "Do not fight us!" Tidal snarled, her fish eyes flashing angrily.

message 45: by BONES_ (new)

BONES_ | 44 comments Tsunami frowned. "Why not? You're marrying a very successful hunter. Not to mention he's, you know, a prince. Doesn't every little girl dream of finding their prince? You actually got one! Sure, he's a grumpy prince but hey- I wouldn't complain, not if you don't want to try to swim back yourself."

Tsunami clicked a few times and shook her head. "Please refrain from yelling, we're in a cave, after all." She then took the dress and carried it over to wait next to Coral. "Look, he's even picked out a wonderful dress for you! So long... maybe he wants you to look more like is, you know-" he shook the tail of the dress. "-Fit in some. Less appetizing to blind elders."

"You can't force me to marry anyone," Selene said fiercely, glaring back at Tsunami and the other sirens. "Get away from me. Look, I was abducted from the surface and then brought down here by some monster...siren...thing... and now I'm being told I'm in a deep sea trench and marrying a prince." She shook her head, gulping hard. "I can't do that. I can't marry anyone, and not some siren."

Tidal clenched her webbed hand tightly around Selene's upper arm. She looked very angry but because Tsunami was there she was reining herself in somewhat. "Put the dress on. Listen to Tsunami."

Coral blinked, crossing her arms over her seaweed wrapped chest.

BONES_ | 44 comments Tsunami gave Tidal a thankful smile then turned back to Selene. “You don’t have to like him, but for your sake you need to marry him. He’ll be forced -or welcomed- to kill any human who refuses to comply. SHe sighed, her gills flaring. Her legs shifted into legs, which at first looked like had odd patterns like her tail, but really had scratches and scars on them. Clearly, this is why she didn’t transform right away. “As much as it makes sense, neither of us have a choice. I was accused of reason, and this is my last chance of getting back to my role as duchess. So please, work with me here. I’m innocent, and I’m not about to lose my life as royalty just because you don’t want one. We live very long lives, this will affect me for centuries if I’m lucky and with all due respect, who wouldn’t want to be a Queen?” She stomped her foot. “You have no idea how lucky you are. So please, put the dress on.” Tsunami crossed the room and gently took the dress off from the vanity, holding it up. “It’s beautiful, and we measured you once you were brought back. Coral, will you help with the accessories, please?” She cast her doe shaped eyes to the other siren, then to Selene. “I will help you so long you keep my honor intact.”

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

Selene raised an eyebrow at Tsunami. She didn't really care what happened to some siren from the bottom of the sea, or however long the siren would have to live in that position. She didn't want to bend to someone else's wishes again just to satisfy them. But she needed to find a way out of this cave, this supposed Trench, and return home. But she couldn't do that if this prince would kill her. She had no way to prove that he wouldn't kill her after she went through with all this nonsense, but Selene turned to look over the dress Tsunami brought over. It was beautiful. Maybe if she just wore the dress and complied with the small things.... she could use Tsunami's help and maybe later escape. She had to.

Selene sucked in a breath - her lungs still hurt and she coughed a little - and straightened herself. "I'll put the dress on if you both let go of me. And if my questions are answered." She looked directly back at Tsunami.

Anemone and Tidal released her, but they still stood waiting in case the human did anything they didn't find agreeable. Meanwhile, Coral walked gracefully over to the vanity and opened the topmost drawer. From within, she pulled out a shell encrusted box that she set on top of the vanity. Out of the box Coral took several items, most of which were pearls; a pearl necklace to layer with the seaweed choker already around Selene's neck, a set of shimmering earrings, and some long thread like items that would be weaved amongst Selene's curls and add a beautiful touch. Carefully, the palest siren turned and brought them all over on a soft pillow.
