I'm so sorry, everyone! I forgot it was my turn to post last week! Chaos was brewing and executed. So, you will be getting two posts this week. The second will be up in the afternoon. You have your choice to post.

Here is the post you should have seen:

This (last) week’s theme is Giggle Central. Here is a reminder not to take yourself too seriously and take a break to laugh at the little things. A few comedies we are recommending are:

Adult Assembly Required by Abbi Waxman Priestdaddy by Patricia Lockwood The Bee Sting by Paul Murray We Are Never Meeting in Real Life. by Samantha Irby Summary of The Sellout A Novel by Paul Beatty (Book Club Edition) by Scribr Good Material by Dolly Alderton The Martian by Andy Weir

Here is a reminder that once you complete your challenge, (reading 10 books or 1,500 pages) we ask that you send the following information to our email, albanyreads@albanypubliclibrary.org:
- First and last name
- Library Branch to pick up your shirt AND a Stewart’s Ice Cream Coupon AND the pride that you have read all those pages!
- Your shirt size

Humorous Reading!

Elizabeth Tuttle (el_tuttle) | 21 comments For this theme, I read The Bee Sting. I didn't initially find it that amusing, but the last third really picks up in terms of hijinks!

I also love Patricia Lockwood, Priestdaddy is excellent. Perhaps my favorite comedy to recommend is the short story collection Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Damaged Glory by Raphael Bob-Waksberg, creator of Bojack Horseman. The audiobook is particularly great because there is a brilliant cast of actors.

Alicia (readersbeadvised) | 124 comments My funny ones this past week were Magnolia Wu Unfolds It All an adorable middle grade about a Chinese girl whose family owns a laundry in the city who goes on an adventure to try to find the owners of one sock to reunite it with the other sock.

The other was a googly-eyed but nonfiction book called Club Microbe that teaches readers about the good and bade microbes in our body.

Meaghan Haugaard | 4 comments Hiya! I read Drew Afuelo’s book Loud: Accept Nothing Less Than The Life You Deserve. I haven’t seen her TikTok’s before, but was recommended by friends. The book overall is somewhat a self-help book. Afuelo did a really thoughtful and funny job of reminding her readers of real truths in a funny and entertaining way. It made me chuckle, but also thought provoking.
