His stories have great range in style, explore numerous, imaginative themes, and almost always have an emotional, very human touch to them. They are usually in the genre of science fiction, but not always. I personally am most familiar with his weird stories, at least 11 of which were published in Weird Tales. His themes tend to be dark and sophisticated, making him one of my favorite authors. Because he wasn't much of a wordsmith, and wrote mostly social science fiction, I think he has been highly under rated by the public in general. On Amazon can be found two great collections of his short stories, each for 99 cents. You can't go wrong starting there if you're curious.
