I have Deborah Harkness’s fourth book, The Black Bird Oracle and would love to carve out the time to read it.
I have been getting into this genre more and more. I am currently reading Axis by Robert Charles Wilson, it’s meh! I have heard the other books in this series are better. I would love reading the Murderbot Diaries again!
East of West, Vol. 2: We Are All One by Jonathan Hickman (somewhere between fantasy, western, dystopia...) 3.5 starshttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
My usual fallback for this genre is a Terry Pratchett Discworld novel. This time around I am looking to read Carpe Jugulum
When I went to read Deborah Harkness’s Black Bird Oracle, I discovered I’d missed a volume in the series so I read Time's Convert instead. What a disappointment! Could not have been more bored. My review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....
Loved Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell - really hits the fantasy folklore brief! Both Babel and Neverwhere are great too.
If you wanted to slide towards horror folklore, I'd heartily recommend Starve Acre by Andrew Michael Hurley

I just finished a quickie, When I Arrived at the Castle
by Emily Carroll a gothic take on the vampire folklore. 4.0 stars
I just noticed that the film of Starve Acre has been released this week, with Matt Smith as the dad. It's been well reviewed by Mark Kermode....
Young adult / fantasy Warriors: The Prophecies Begin
by Erin Hunter 3.5 starshttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished Carpe Jugulum and although I wavered on the 4 star 5 star border I decided it was worth 5 stars for the character of Scraps alone.
I am about a third of the way into Babel and am enjoying it very much. I hope to get it finished before the end of the month...
