Have you guys read dreamland billionaires (especially the fine print)?

I read the first couple pages on kindle one day when I was at a friends house and didn’t like the movie we were watching, but got swept out and read other things… we could try to buddy read if you want? But Ali knows I’m not very good at that…

Is it just me, because when they mention Emily Laughlin I’m so annoyed. Like half of the book is them remembering Emily to the point that it seems like there’s two main characters.

Does anyone else think that Xaden in fw is lowkey kinda toxic
Cause he’s my fav book bf and fw is one of my fav books but sometimes the way he treats everyone is kinda rude. I mean, he’s normally sweet to Violet but especially in if (iron flame) I could see some red flags popping up

yep i did see that but ig that just makes him morally grey. and you know what they say about morally grey book guys lol 😘 but yeah it did annoy me a lot. mostly in iron flame

Okay this is sorta like a good rant? lol anyways I can't tell anybody tbh because my family is more of the "Your beautiful no matter what" type so I can't tell them I workout to gain muscle and loose fat. anyways out of the blue like tonight I finally hit the weight I been wanting for a long time. Like in 3 weeks I lost about 20 lbs just by working out and eating healthy. Anyways, I just wanted to share that since I can't talk about it irl.

I am currently rampaging at the cliffhanger in Catching Fire

ok hi yall!! i’m asking for input here because im truly at a loss on how to feel about this passage of the book im currently reading.

context: this is a book about a non cover CIA agent and global politics/working together to uncover t*rrorist. the villain/bad guy terror man is black as listed by the author in non offensive ways through the beginning and middle of the book. i’m about 87% in and i just stumbled across this excerpt,

“He scanned for a scally cap and black skin. Raw as it may seem, Scotland had few Black people, and Aadan Mukhtaar, the Somali-born terrorist, mastermind and financier, would stick out just the same as any other.” - The Scotland Project, Matthew Fults.

I am a person of color (asian american) and while i cannot relate/take offence to this i wanted to have input from other readers for when i formulate my review. is this offensive/am i reading into it too much/ or is this just blatantly unnecessary when it’s said that the bad guy has a distinct hat on the entire time?

I am also Asian and to me it's not as offensive you can say if you are a person of color you might find the book a little racist or smth and that is only matters on your personal experience and your personal opinion.

@ava thank you for responding so quickly !! i don’t think it’s supposed to be/is racist i just think it’s completely unnecessary and it struck me soooo weird when i stumbled across it. i really wasn’t expecting it and it just felt weird honestly.

Yeah no I get it from someone who gotten a lot of racist and just odd questions because your well not white or smth I can see how that can just make you feel weird

yesss and like knowing how i’ve been racially spoken to/verbally harassed it always takes me back when writers do things that are somewhat unfitting to the story. i always double back and try to understand or allege but sometimes it’s just too weird !!

I am an Asian-British person living in Britain, but mostly it’s fine over here. we are used to seeing a lot of diversity and respect each other because of it, but saying things like person of colour is ok too, because around half of people in Britain aren’t ethnically British and it’s not rude to say someone isn’t ethnically british
in a mean or rude way, it is
