I've had Praisesong for the Kitchen Ghosts: Stories and Recipes from Five Generations of Black Country Cooks taunting me from my bedside table for weeks...
Maybe this will inspire me to finish Consider the Fork. It's an interesting book but I keep distracted by other books, mostly for book clubs
I had little inspiration for this prompt, but one of my colleagues suggested Disney's Ratatouille. Listened to the free audiobook on YouTube and how thit I enjoyed it. Good storyteller, the sounds and voice acting were very good and lively. Got me so nostalgic to when I first saw the movie as a child.
I just discovered this September challenge. I ended up reading Playing St. Barbara by Marian Szczepanksi which talks a lot of the women in this story ad their time in the kitchen.
In the book The Hottest Dishes of the Tartar Cuisine by Alina Bronsky, the main character, Rosa, spends time in the kitchen, though not as much as you would think from the title. BTW, contender for the worst mother in literature.
I read Death by Dumpling by Vivien Chien. It begins with a man being murdered by eating shrimp dumplings which he is allergic to.
I read The Cornish Wedding Murder by Fiona Leitch. The main character is a former cop who starts her own catering company.
I read Have the Men Had Enough? by Margaret ForsterShe was such an amazing writer. This is about dementia affecting a family, & while some of the terms & medical treatment may now be out of date, the experiences, the feelings of caring for someone with dementia remain the same. There was a lot of talk about food & kitchens, which fits the prompt.
I'm going to reread all her books & recommend them to everyone! I'd hate her books to be forgotten. Only 2 titles are available on Audible UK, yet she published 29 novels.
I read A Proposal They Can't Refuse by Natalie Caña. A romance between a chef and a whiskey distiller who have very nosey grandfathers.
I read Murder at King’s Crossing (Wrexford & Sloane, #8) by Andrea Penrose. McClellan is the Wrexford's faithful cook.
I read The Mistletoe Mystery by Nita Prose. The main character's partner is a pastry chef at the hotel they work for and his cooking is a part of the plot. https://cdnbookworm.blogspot.com/2024...
