Time to Vote for the October Tag
Voted. Not feeling great about any of them. I did see books I could read for all of them though. Even if it is just one.
So many sexy sport related books. 😳
So many sexy sport related books. 😳
Not enamored of any of them, though I have a ton of TRAVEL on my TBR as I read those often. BnB, JoyD and I did a buddy read over the last year of Bernard Ollivier's walking the silk road trilogy which we all loved.
Voted. I'm ready for some armchair travel. Although I will be back on the east coast at the end of October.
Sports! Sports! Sports! There are biographies, period pieces, and fiction.
Grisham alone has
Calico Joe
Playing for Pizza
Bleachers
Sooley
I have tons of books on my TBR for Sports!!!!!!

Who knew?
I definitely have a favourite of the three, but I think I'd be ok with any of those (with one being the hardest, but I'm sure I will have something that fits all).I actually really like the one that is my favourite of the three. :-)

Huh?😄
Huh. Interesting choices. The one I like best here is one that I like a ton more than last month's choices at least.

Did you want me to say which ones I prefer (including the one I really like)?
I still (usually) do this how we used to in not saying where we'll vote so people vote how they want rather than being swayed by others. (Though I can't vote, anyway.)
Jason wrote: "I don’t normally list which one I vote for but I don’t think it’s a secret this time."(Many) People have been sharing what they'll vote for for a while, but we didn't always do it that way. I just still do, but here we are, so I will share (this time), anyway.
My favourite on this list is travel. Sports would probably be the "hardest" one for me, but I'm sure I will still have a few on the tbr, so I'd be fine with any of them.
Jason wrote: "I don’t normally list which one I vote for but I don’t think it’s a secret this time."🤣. You only need to give us 1 guess...
My thought when I read that tag was- Jason!

It was the build up. It felt like you really wanted to say which one was actually really your favorite and why.

Who knew?"
Theresa, is time for some "slutty" fun?- LoL
UGH, UGH! This is a terrible year of tags for me-I will go check what is there, and oddly enough I might be voting with Jason!

**fanning**
Could trigger a ' best book boy toy' thread for the month, from books read for tag.
As usual, I can find books on my tbr for all 3. That being said I do have a clear favorite as one of those fits one of my favorite genres.I have been exceedingly lucky this year with the tag of the month working with what I want to read and that has shown with my reading this year.
NancyJ wrote: "I’m just teasing you Cindy. It was the build up. It felt like you really wanted to say which one was actually really your favorite and why...."LOL! Maybe I did. I don't get to vote, so...
Well, I got nothing for Sports and just one in the other two categories. But there is plenty more that go beyond the 25 pages and 77 tags. I am quite sure I could easily find something that matches. I loved the Beartown Series, I loved Apples Never Fall, and Carrie Soto. Probably plenty more that doesn't easily come to mind. I am rather inclined to support Jason on this one. There are probably plenty more for the other two tags beyond what I found. So I am undecided about how I will actually vote.... Perhaps keep it a mystery for now. We shall see. i haven't voted yet....

I know I have books involving travel and sports that aren’t really about travel or sports.
Nope.... I am kind of raving about Ghosted since my review this morning. If anyone needs a book for addiction this was so beautifully written....
None of these excite me as indicated by no books identified as TBR on any of these links. I may be sitting this one out. If travel wins, would it be acceptable to read about space travel or time travel?
John, In the case of the monthly tag, if you say it fits, it fits, so I don't see why the tag would exclude either of them. It doesn't have to be on the posted list.
KateNZ wrote: "That would be a fabulous take on the tag, John!

Yes! So many choices in science fiction.

You only need to worry if you are playing one of our games or for challenges, but otherwise, we take a broad view of the tags.
Not that I have a vote either, but I love sports and have a lot of sports books on my TBR too. Just "cheerleading" over here ;)!!!YA anything will be hard for me.
Are we able to change our vote as long as it is before the cut off date?
Your response to travel just changed my mind Anita. 🥳🚀

🤣
I do have a wonderful sports book to recommend - I read it for Popsugar Challenge one year, which has some sort of sports prompt every year and I struggle.Blind Your Ponies by Stanley Gordon West - high school underdog basketball in smalltown Montana and based on a true place, true team, and true story. My 5-star review
It also fits October Flurries - indigenous.
Aside from that and maybe some mysteries set in the world of figure skating, i have exactly 3 books on my TBR, which I save for use in the annual PS challenge, depending on what their sports prompt is.
@JoAnne - I suspect you would love this book.

You can definitely change your vote. I appreciate the heads up. Just vote again, and I'll use your second vote.

Possibly, but does not work for BWF. The only way I will read for any of these tags is if it fits-I am just now getting my reading mojo back and the last few months of tags have not been helping-lol
If sports wins I'm reading a trashy sports romance. Too much stress in my real life for me to read a serious book about sports. I haven't decided how I'm voting yet
Jason, your sheer enthusiasm makes me want to vote for sports even though I honestly have nothing that I can think of to read at the moment!! A smutty romance might be just the light read that I need, though… Loving John’s spin on travel. Will have to scout through the TBR.
There are some great YA stories out there but I’d want to be picky - I’ve had my fill of emotional angst for the time being.
I haven’t actually decided what to vote for though. It’s a hard one this month!

There are many fiction books that are enjoyable reads that are centered or closely associated with sports. I forgot about Apples Never Fall being associated with sports.

Keep those pom poms waving.
I don’t like any of them but I see that travel has a fair amount of general fiction like Life of Pi, or The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, even romance The Unhoneymooners.. And I read a lot about France. So I have the best shot there,
FYI - for BWF the word to spell is CONTEMPORARY, not ya. I don’t think everyone saw the BWF chat thread.
Rachel N. wrote: "If sports wins I'm reading a trashy sports romance. Too much stress in my real life for me to read a serious book about sports. I haven't decided how I'm voting yet"Yeah Rachel!! We should do it anyway!
I have so many on my shelf for Sports and for Travel. I don’t know where to start. October should be a good month!
