What classics are y’all currently reading?

I’m currently reading The Count of Monte Cristo. So far so good. But I’m only 50 pages into a 1400 page book 🤣

Nice! I'm not reading any atm, but I just recently finished The Great Gatsby, and I'm planning on rereading Pride and Prejudice soon.

It’s very long Emily! 😂 it’s interesting tho so I’m not worried about the length.

The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle at the moment. There’s so many thees, thous, and arts, lol. It makes me want to walk like it XD

Monte Cristo! One of my favorite classics!

Currently I'm reading a contemporary novel. The last classic I read was the first volume of Moralia by Plutarch.

Anne of Green Gables, although for my co-op I'm reading a book by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Monte Cristo is so fun so far but I'm not very far at all.

Sorry for the late reply, Elisabeth! Yes, I did enjoy Moralia. It contained many moral principles that overlapped with Biblical teachings. Overall, the reading was very insightful.

No I didn't get it finished, I got distracted by many other books. I'm hoping to start it again here in the next month or two tho!

I read three Jane Austen books last month and really enjoyed them.

What Jane Austen books did you read? My favorite is Emma.

I have no idea which ones I read that month since it was a while ago but I’ve read all of them now finally.

My favorite is Persuasion or Mansfield Park.

Emma and Northanger abbey are my least favorite.

I'd like to reread Persuasion this year. It's been a while.

Northanger Abbey was super lame and ridiculous to me. 😂 and I genuinely just can’t enjoy Emma. I do want to try again and see if I can enjoy it but I’ve literally read it twice and listened to the audiobook once.

I did LOVE the movie adaptation I watched though. It was such a cozy movie.

I have only read Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Northanger Abbey so far, but I want to read the rest of her books as well, especially Persuasion. Northanger Abbey was fun, but if I remember right, I enjoyed Sense and Sensibility more. Pride and Prejudice, though, undeniably my fav, guess that's basic, but i mean, come one, it's P&P. I have read it so many times. XD

Since you loved the movie, I'll take that as a win over N.A., at least. Which adaptation was it? I've only seen the 1996 version with Paltrow.

I don't think I'd be brave enough to try Dracula. Rephrase: I *know* I'm not.

I don’t remember if that’s the only one I’ve ever watched or not but I’m pretty sure that’s the one I found so cozy

It's like an interesting story, but the way it's written feels so drawn out. And I may have lwk abandoned some books to read others... I have a prob with being in the middle of a gazillion things help

Ah, thanks, I'll have to look into it. BBC makes some great adaptations.
