When Avery learned about Josh Hamilton’s suspicions regarding his father, he was adamant they were needlessly pursuing a false claim. If you were in his situation, would you have reacted the same or was he lacking objectivity?

He knew Troy Hamilton and believed there was no way that Josh's story was true. Obviously, Avery had never seen the darker side of Hamilton.

I guess what bothered me was he knew Hamilton from afar. He didn’t have a personal relationship with the man. I could understand his initial reaction but as the story progressed and it got hard to ignore the evidence, I knew he completely lacked objectivity. That’s why they don’t let groups investigate their own.

Hamilton was a legend in the FBI. Avery's initial hesitation made sense. However, once the evidence started piling up Avery needed to be more objective. That said, he did do his job.

I understood Avery for the most part. Often we see friends and associates stand behind people who commit crimes until all the information comes out. Hamilton's excellent reputation in the law enforcement community would make people think twice.
