The plots in this series are becoming more and more ridiculous. It is unfortunate as the basic premise for this case was very interesting, but the explanation makes no sense whatsoever. Sam is becoming more, not less, unlikable, and her arrogance is very offputting.
The return to Avery's obsession with Sam is infuriating. I thought this had been resolved and now it is back. Enough already!
I’m trying to like Sam more because her team does and I like them. Her first encounter with Nick was lovely and their reunion later started the series off nicely. But her immaturity gets under my skin.
That said, it’s the secondary storylines that keep me engaged and liking the series. They’re robustly developed and I like the people. This storyline was engaging, even when it ran off the rails.

I'm quite disappointed in her characterization and in Nick's as well. His jealousy is not a good look and that tantrum he threw when Sam chose to help Brooke rather than go on holiday was awful.
I am also reading for the secondary storylines. I love all of the other characters. Force would do well to focus more on them and less on Sam.
Jonetta wrote: "Maybe move your spoiler to the Fatal Threat topic?"It connected to my comment about enjoying other storylines I'm not sure it would make sense by itself in the Fatal Threat topic. Should I move it anyway?
Yeah, if it pertains to that book. It’s okay to relate to earlier books but ones we haven’t started…no one would look until after they’d read that book. Wouldn’t come back here.
Like both of you have mentioned, Sam's attitude is wearing on me. She knows she doesn't need to follow the rules because no one is going to call her on it. And, I can't see Nick being this jealous over a guy who is hot for Sam. I don't like men who act like their wife is their property and someone is trying to steal her. Sam can handle Avery. She isn't going to throw Nick over to take up with another man.I'm enjoying the supporting characters and their stories too. It's nice to backburner Sam and Nick sometimes.

I just removed that part of the comment. I will wait for the book discussion and comment again then :)
Thanks Jonetta.
