Planning on starting this one soon. My current book is taking me forever to read but it's good.I found The Historian at Goodwill last year or so and I really wanted to read it during October. I can't wait to finally read it. I think I've been reading my current book for two weeks which isn't normal for me but work has been a little hectic.

Don't rush on my account. I am away on a vacation and probably won't start until I get home next week.
I finally started it and it has really grabbed me. I read through the first six chapters. I was worried with its length that it might take forever to read but I don't think so. I just slogged through The Secret History. I enjoyed it but it took me forever. This one is thankfully reading faster than that. She's a good story teller.(view spoiler)
This is a perfect book to read the week of Halloween!
The leader of my local book club recommended it ages ago. I don't know why it's taken me so long. I'll be starting in a day or two.
I finished this one last night. After dark. Alone. 🦇🐺🧛♂️It definitely wasn't the typically gory vampire story I've come to expect, and this history-based, investigative approach was refreshing. I enjoyed (most of) the characters, the story, and the writing, and am glad to see that my library offers her The Shadow Land in audio. Adding that one to my TBR now... maybe for next year's Magical Mystery Tour.
Thanks for suggesting this one and for reading with me.

I'm jealous that you finished it. Work has been a little too busy. I'm almost at a third of the way through it. I love how something creepy happens at the end of every chapter. I'm hoping to make some good progress with it today. It was definitely a good one to read during Halloween week. I caught myself jumping at noises while reading it. All I have been wanting was to get back to the book but this week was a little too crazy.

Everyone reads at their own pace during a Buddy Read. Because participants can be at different parts of the book at different times, it is extremely important to mark spoilers so that the book is not ruined for someone who is not as far along as others!!!
Mark spoilers by placing {spoiler} before the text and {/spoiler} after the text but use the < and > instead of the { and }.
