I am not a horror reader, so I was really surprised that I really liked this book!
The book handles themes like death, gref and guilt.

I think the slower pace, where we got to actually meet the characters and establish the relationships and the setting, before the actuall horror aspect came in, really worked for me. The whole book is filled with this tension, and small disturbing things happen or we get to learn about them thorough the book, but it is not until the end that we see what it was building up to.

Even though the ending chapters was intense, it was what I expected of a horror book, and I really liked that the very ending was so open.
The authors note at the begining, where we find out that this was looselig baced on the authors life and feares made this book feel even more real for me.

This book talked about a lot of things, and an example of what I found was one of the most interesting was about how men in a family are always suposed to be the one that is the strongest, the one that has to take care of everyone even when they themselves are not in a good place. And how this excpectation can really effect their mental state.

Overall I think it was very interesting. I liked the supernatural ellements as well, and even though it was a horror book, it really made me think.


(view spoiler)[ I think that what one finds scary is very subjective.
For some it doesn't have to be something supernatural. For some can real life horrors such as losing a child be what they are most scared of in life. Living in such a reality is like living in a nightmare.
I found the way the book handling this very interesting. The grief and horror blending into one.

The accident was the catalist in some way for everything that happened later. After that we could actually see the process of how the main character became more and more insane.
Reading about it was facinating and unsettling at the same time, and I think that the main reason for it, is because we had spent a lot of time with this mane character, and we knew that he was a smart man, a doctor even. This person could have been everyone. It could even be one of us. Because it doesn't matter how smart you are, if you where in his shoes, if you had lost someone so close to you, like your own child, and you knew that there was a change of getting them back, even though it could go wrong, I think that most people would be tempted to go down the same road as the main character. Thats the most scary thought. (hide spoiler)]
