It is time to start planning that Halloween party. Here are some ideas for fun games and food to serve.

Party Ideas

Murder Mystery night
1. Plan a Murder Mystery
This whodunnit theme can include a mysterious plot line that runs throughout the party, where guests try to figure out who killed the victim. Attendees can also be assigned different characters to play; send invitations that include each attendee’s role and backstory, as well as costume suggestions. The venue can then be decorated according to the time period and circumstances of the crime.

2. Haunted House
Whether you design your own version of a haunted house or organize an outing to an already spooky venue, this classic Halloween party idea will be sure to make your guests scream with delight. Scary music is a must.

3. Pumpkin Carving
A fun party idea is to do pumpkin carving. Have each guest BYOP (Bring Your Own Pumpkin) and make sure you have lots of tools on hand. If it warm enough do it outside on a patio but inside make sure you lay down a tarp of plastic table cloth both on a table and the floor. A couple of books with carving ideas might be useful as well. Plus after the carving save the seeds and toast them up as a snack for all the fun hard work.

4. Mad Scientist Lab
This is a good one for those kids who are just a little too old or cool to trick n treat like those preteens and teens, but still want Halloween fun. Decorate a room or basement to look like Frankenstein's lab. Glow in the dark florescent-green candles set the mood. Add glow-in-the-dark labware and faux-radioactive props to your creepy laboratory. Make a tray of mad scientists’ favorite ingredients and potions and of course don't forget the ghoulish looking food.

5. Costume
Of course a simple but great idea is to have a costume party and see how imaginative people can get with costumes. Even have a competition for different categories like best costume, most imaginative and so on.

6. Of course the decorations are a must for a party. Make sure you get some witches, pumpkins, bats, spiders, ghosts if you are wanting it not to scary. If you are wanting a little scarier try dripping blood, and sound effects.

7. Bob for apples
This seems a simple game to play and bobbing for apples is so much fun. Plus it is easy to set up. Without using your hands try to grab an apple floating in water. It is harder than you think.

8. Face the cookie
Grab a Halloween cookie to be the center of this challenge! Each player will tilt their head back and balance a cookie on their forehead. On the count of three, everyone will race to get their cookie from its current spot to their mouths, without using their hands. The first to eat their cookie is the winner.

9. Neighborhood scavenger hunt
If your neighborhood decked out for Halloween you'll definitely want to try this game. Wander the neighborhood looking at the decorations and add them to your list. Then at party time send them out to find the items and the first one back with all the items wins. Make them take a photo or write down the address of the house rather than steal a decoration.

10. Witch Hat ring toss
This bewitching game involves tossing as many rings as possible onto well, witch hats! All you'll need to set up the game is a piece of wood or cardboard, black witch hats, and some rings. See how many rings you can get onto a hat.

11. Skeleton Bone Dig
Digging for skeleton bones is such a spooky way to get in the Halloween spirit! Fill a large storage tub or plastic pool with packaging peanuts, then bury the bones inside. The kids dig for the bones and put the skeleton together before the timer goes off.

12. Pumpkin & Witch broom race
A pumpkin and broom race is a Halloween party game where players use a broom to push a pumpkin to a finish line and then back to the next player in line. It's similar to an egg and spoon race.

13. Wrap the Mummy
To play this game, separate children into two or more groups, and select one child from each group to be the "mummy." The children can then use a toilet paper roll to wrap the mummy. The first group to finish their roll wins.

14. Ghost Face Game
Sort of like a pie eating contest but in this case it is a plate of whipped cream. The first child to finish it without using their hands wins. This whipped cream eating contest, everyone will have a screamingly funny finish! Get the camera ready to take cute pictures of your kid's "ghost" faces.

Food
15. Mummy dogs
This is a favorite of kids. Cut crescent roll dough into thin strips and wrap around hot dogs. Bake according to crescent package directions and use ketchup or mustard for eyes. Cut the hot dogs in half to make them bite-sized.

16. Monster jaws
Quarter apples and take a wedge out of the center of each quarter. Dunk them in water with a little lemon juice to prevent browning. Use slivered almonds for teeth you can toast them for color and taste. Eyes are optional. You can stick pretzel rods in and attach candy eyes with peanut butter.

17. Dirt n Wurms
Another classic. Use chocolate pudding for your mud and put some crushed Oreos on top for dirt. Hide those gummy worms in there for eeek factor!

18. Bones and Blood
Use breadstick dough (store bought or homemade) and cut into strips. Use scissors to snip the ends into 2 pieces and roll them down to make the bone shape. Dip in blood ( marinara sauce) For extra flavor sprinkle with garlic and Parmesan.

19. Slimy Worms On A Bun
Just slice hot dogs and drop them into boiling water for just a minute or two and they’ll curl a bit. Dunk them in some BBQ sauce and you have slimy worms. Place the worms in a bun and you are set.

20. Cheesy Fingers
Cut string cheese in half to make them kid-sized. Then use the flat side of a knife to make the knuckle marks and attach slivered almonds with a dab of cream cheese for the nails. You can also use a knife to shave off just a bit of the cheese at an angle before attaching the almond.

Make a tray of mad scientists’ favorite ingredients and potions and of course don't forget the ghoulish looking food.

Party Ideas

Murder Mystery night
1. Plan a Murder Mystery
This whodunnit theme can include a mysterious plot line that runs throughout the party, where guests try to figure out who killed the victim. Attendees can also be assigned different characters to play; send invitations that include each attendee’s role and backstory, as well as costume suggestions. The venue can then be decorated according to the time period and circumstances of the crime.

2. Haunted House
Whether you design your own version of a haunted house or organize an outing to an already spooky venue, this classic Halloween party idea will be sure to make your guests scream with delight. Scary music is a must.

3. Pumpkin Carving
A fun party idea is to do pumpkin carving. Have each guest BYOP (Bring Your Own Pumpkin) and make sure you have lots of tools on hand. If it warm enough do it outside on a patio but inside make sure you lay down a tarp of plastic table cloth both on a table and the floor. A couple of books with carving ideas might be useful as well. Plus after the carving save the seeds and toast them up as a snack for all the fun hard work.

4. Mad Scientist Lab
This is a good one for those kids who are just a little too old or cool to trick n treat like those preteens and teens, but still want Halloween fun. Decorate a room or basement to look like Frankenstein's lab. Glow in the dark florescent-green candles set the mood. Add glow-in-the-dark labware and faux-radioactive props to your creepy laboratory. Make a tray of mad scientists’ favorite ingredients and potions and of course don't forget the ghoulish looking food.

Of course a simple but great idea is to have a costume party and see how imaginative people can get with costumes. Even have a competition for different categories like best costume, most imaginative and so on.

Grab a Halloween cookie to be the center of this challenge! Each player will tilt their head back and balance a cookie on their forehead. 11. Skeleton Bone Dig
Digging for skeleton bones is such a spooky way to get in the Halloween spirit! Fill a large storage tub or plastic pool with packaging peanuts, then bury the bones inside. The kids dig for the bones and put the skeleton together before the timer goes off.

This is a favorite of kids. Cut crescent roll dough into thin strips and wrap around hot dogs. Bake according to crescent package directions and use ketchup or mustard for eyes. Cut the hot dogs in half to make them bite-sized.

16. Monster jaws

18. Bones and Blood

19. Slimy Worms On A Bun
