Who wants to read Phoebe Junior by Mrs. Oliphant? This is our buddy-read in October 2024.

If you have read it already, or you are reading it at another (later) time - write here what you think about the book too.

I will try it.

Sonia Johnson | 148 comments This will be my next book when I have finished what I am reading. Am looking forward to reading it. It is the last of the Carlingford Chronicles and am hoping for an enjoyable time.
There are recurring characters in the CC, but their storylines are not as detailed as say in Trollope's Barchester Chronicles. I think that you could read this as a standalone if you have it on your shelves.
I am reading it as part of my Victober reads.

Sonia Johnson | 148 comments The first few chapters take you outside of Carlingford. They are important to the story, but I found I missed Carlingford. Stick with it. Am now back in Carlingford with Phoebe Junior, Phoebe Tozer's daughter visiting her grandparents for the first time. Am loving it.

Sonia Johnson | 148 comments I have finished it. Really enjoyed it, and it delivered what I wanted. Looking forward to discussing it, if anyone else picks it up.

Brilliant.

The topic, class prejudice, was awful, but the author wrote through it a wonderfully engaging novel.
