Just off another lengthy busride a along twisty mountain road, waiting for some hot food, I dont have a poem in me. But it was thrilling landscape and two reststops allowed me to do some heartfelt peace dancing. At last a sunny day. Now to find my hostel and head for the beach with my book

Happy, Spooky October! The leaves are turning color, the air is fresh, the sun still shines half the time....it's a good month. Magdelanye, enjoy the sunshine and beaches as often as possible. Dance everywhere you can.
The Egyptian hieroglyphics book has arrived. I bought a used copy that turns out is brand new. It hasn't even been cracked yet.
I did some reading in the library book but can now put more effort in it as I can make notations if necessary.
I finished reading Shaman and enjoyed it almost as much as The Physician. Both were warm, caring stories. I like the location and time period of The Physician more, although I also liked the setting of early pioneer USA.
I have started the third book of the trilogy, Matters of Choice, which has started out more hectic and busy than the other two. Perhaps a statement of our current medical system? Guess I'll find out. The writing is good, so I'm sure the story will be as well.
to find comments.I have been traveling steadily without wifi most of the time. Now im just getting ready to find a way to Berlin from Nuremberg where i spent the night.
Apparantly GR has discontinued notifications- not sure if thats just for groups or universal. So its not just me but loads of us are unhappy about this.
I hope you can find this comment.
Petra thats splendid about your hieroglyphics book. I see a trip to Egypt in your future. Don't wait too long!
Ice i hope you enjoyed Scotland. Im sad I never made it to your part of the world. Definitely next time.
Yes! I am definitely going to have to do this again.
Reading another hostel book surprise, Milk Fed by Melissa Broder. I really hesitated about this one but finding hilarious.
was able to finish Milk Fed and leave at the hostel in Berlin. Not so lucky with Isherwood, Leaving Berlin, a slim penguin paperback brought with me and paused for most of the trip, left with me after coming close to being abandoned. It seems I've missed your gloriouns indianc summer Petra and I'm glad I flew in the day before this atmospheric storm.
Welcome home! Enjoy a restful day after your travels. Today is voting day. I've got to go out into this storm. Ugh!
Thanks Petra.Slept most of the day a bit more perky this morning.
Good for you for getting out there to vote. It way rather vile and unpredictable.
wondering just now how lack of notifications is affecting this group. Did anyone even notice my last comment?
Its sad whats happening to GR.
My last straw would be if they change the name to Amazon.
I don't use notifications, so I saw your last comments. How was the trip home? How are you settling back in? What's it feel like being back home? I suspect that the lack of notifications is making a difference in participation.
As for what I'm reading, I finished The Cole Family trilogy. I enjoyed them all. The family is warm, kind, and true healers. They all have Life issues and work their way through them towards a peaceful life they can accept. Well written, good stories.
I'm currently reading Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China. I'm finding it slow moving and the Communist section (mother; middle swan) is darn right boring. Despite that, it gives a clear picture of how regimented it was to live through this era. Ugh.
On my walks, I'm listening to Beasts of a Little Land. It's an interesting story. Nothing to write home about but the characters are intriguing and their lives interesting, so the story flows well.
Serendipity: both these books have parts that are set in Manchuria, during World War II. It's interesting to read about this period of Time, once as fiction and once as non-fiction.
no notification but a red flag besides this thread when i checked the group.I trust that Ice Bear will check in when he feels like it. But what about Ellie?
Maybe she is off on another trip.
I am not fully recovered from mine. Being back home would feel more reassuring if I had an actual home to settle in. Im staying with kind people but there is a time limit. I dont feel finished with traveling and curiously I feel as if all my learnings about hostelling are being put to good use here.
Glad you got to read the whole Cole trilogy and that you enjoyed it.
Petra, I love Beasts of a little land, which i listened to on audiobook. It wouldnt play on my bedside boom box but on the computer. The narration added another dimension.
A sadly moving tale.
