We Can Be Heroes discussion

Anya was happily humming as she set up the school's camera early, before most students were awake, as she was preparing to take a timelapse of the front lawn. Unfortunately, doing this meant that she had to babysit the camera to make sure no doofuses messed it up. Fortunately, she got to skip all her morning classes until someone else came and took over for her.

"I'm on the yearbook team!" Anya told him, excited someone finally asked her about it, but a little confused why he was up so early. "I'm taking a timelapse so we can compress it into one picture and keep it as a video." She explained, beaming at him.

"Yeah!" Anya agreed, and laughed a little bit, "It is a little confusing, though." She admitted sheepishly. "What's your name?" She asked, sticking out a hand.

"Anya!" She told him sweetly, "Lovely to meet your acquaintance!" She said, mimicking some old person at some point, smiling brightly.

Anya laughed, her smile growing wider somehow. "Yeah! Didn't realize anyone here would get that!" She said, delighted that he had.

Anya laughed again, "Same here!" She smiled, "So, Ollie, what're you in for?" She asked him, quoting the movie and replacing his name.

"Of course it was!" Anya said, scoffing with a slight british accent, "If it weren't, then we'd know something truly troublesome was afoot." She said seriously, and burst out laughing.

"That's so crazy, man!" Anya exclaimed, giggling still, "So what are you really here for? You a legacy of some hero or your own?" She asked, even though it didn't really make a whole lot of sense.

"He had a son?! Man, I need to stay connected to my devices." Anya said, "That's cool, dude!" She said, smiling. "You good?" She asked as she watched his laughter.

"Dang. Oh, well, I'm glad you're here." Anya said, not sure if it would be helpful or not to say that. "You're cool!"

Anya laughed, "Wait till you hear about the swimming club! Some of us never stop talking!" She joked, giggling again, "Oh, I need to start recording!" She said, the comment making another wave of laughter explode from her.

"It could yet!" Anya suggested, laughing again, as that was another quote from [Insert old movie name here].

Anya made her face serious, "Well, I'm glad I brought my bathing suit, because we're gonna be either swimming or sleeping with the fishes tonight." She quoted, but couldn't hold in her laugh anymore, causing the few people now awake to look over at the two.

"Oh, no!" Anya said, but was still laughing to herself, quieter. Ever since she'd seen the others in the area, her personality had quieted, her smile becoming smaller even as she laughed.

((Deader than a doornail))

"What?" Anya asked, thinking through the movie in case it was another quote, but she didn't recognize that one. "Hm, I don't know that one, which part is that one in?" She asked, smiling slightly. "I really gotta rewatch [Insert old movie name here]." She remarked, "It's been a while."

"Oh. Do I?" Anya said, "Oh, well." She said, shrugging, but her smile faded until she was just staring off into space. "Oh, school starts in five minutes, don't you want to get to your classes?" She asked, reminding him.

"I'm fine, but you're going to get a tardy ticket." Anya reminded him, "You should probably get to class. They only allow like five of 'em or something before they give you a detention." She informed him, her voice losing any humor as if it hand't had any in the first place.

"Good luck." Anya said softly, almost a whisper, and went back to messing with her camera.

Malikai was sitting On the grass thinking.

Koi walked past, ignoring the other boy, and sat down a good distance away from him, readjusting his bracelets

Malikai Saw Koi and Kept to himself.

Koi noticed the other boy's glance, but being used to stares, he shrugged his hood up and continued to mindlessly fiddle with his accessories.

Koi Seemed familier but Malkai just moved here so it couldn't have been

Koi continually glanced over at Malakai, giving him suspicious looks, as to ward him off.

The gold trident next to him Glimmered in the sunlight.

A small Raccoon walked around him.

During one of his many glances, he noticed the trident, and being a bit of a feral creature himself (liking shiny things) he couldn't look away from the trident

Malikai Grabbed the trident, the raccoon Jumped on his shoulder, and he stood up.

Koi shook his gaze away from the trident as the boy stood up, glancing back down at himself to try to avoid being spotted again

Malikai Stopped, "I noticed you liked my Trident."

Koi didn't answer, only nodding sheepishly, with a gruff expression

Malikai Smiled, "You want to hold it?" He offered handing it to Koi.

He looked up, suprise on his face, and took it gingerly, stoking the shiny metal gently. He let out a little giggle, happy with the shinyness

"It's exactly like my father's. I'm Malikai By the way, Most call me Kai."

"That's interesting" he said, handing the Trident back to him "I'm Koi"

Kai Took it and Nodded the raccoon on his shoulder tilted his head at Koi

He stood up, glancing at the raccoon. "Strange thing to have with a trident"

"Hm? Oh he was a gift from my Grandfather."

"Ah..." he looked puzzled "did he have a thing for raccoons?"

"No i do." Kai looked at his feet.

"Well... he's very nice"

"Thanks." Kai smiled

Koi did not return the smile. "So, what are you doing at the academy?"

"I just transfered."

"Ah, I see" He nodded. "You enjoying yourself?"
