There can be a theme or something, but it could also be freestyle

That's the problem with me. I don't write poems unless I am given a particular topic.

We could do a coming-of-age writing competition.

HERE'S MY HALLOWEEN ENTRY (didn't want to add it in the competition because I created the topic lol)
There’s a ghost in the attic,
She haunts me day and night
I can hear her footsteps in the hallway
I can tell she’s just out of sight

There’s a ghost in the attic,
With glowing ember eyes
I can feel them on me as I’m walking
Perhaps plotting my demise

But with what the world has come to
With what I’ve heard of violence and of war
The ghost in my attic might just be
The least frightening thing so far

‘Mirror, mirror on the wall
What should I fear most of all?

In my gaze, the truth stands tall,
It whispers softly: fear yourself most of all.’

“Mother,” cried the child after hearing the answer from the mirror. “Why should I be afraid of myself?” Her parents looked at each other, trying to soothe their weeping child.

Sharp strides struck the rock-hard ground, as she emerged from the castle, blood dripping from her sword. Blood of soldiers and blood of her own family.
Maybe she should fear herself the most of all.
