Interesting because Follett was already writing characters like this.

What makes me shake my head is that the same story is apparently the basis for 'The English Patient', which everyone made such a ridiculous fuss over.

It's beyond lame that the industry serves up lukewarm dishs and leftover ingredients and label it gourmet fare. The story had already been fully realized by Follett!
