I'm slightly fascinated by Moshe Dayan.
However, I'm not that familiar with the formation of the Israeli state.
I only know the bare-bones from various movies or novels like 'Exodus'. Leon Uris, James Michener, James Clavell, etc.
But Dayan is quite an exotic character. When I read his thumbnail bio I can't quite make out what Israel itself, thought of him.

In his early career he seems to have made a recurring series of blunders and errors. Was he a stumblebum when he started out?

Read some blurbs regarding Dayan's The Six Day War and the relationship between him and PM Golda Meir.
