Michael Fitzgerald | 45 comments I just finished Cooney's The Kellyhorns, a fun juvenile novel from 1942, nearly 300 pages. Of course, she is much better known as an illustrator, but she did write two other shorter novels around the same time. Has anyone ever read (or even seen) the others - King of Wreck Island from 1941 and Captain Pottle's House from 1943?

Based on the book I read, Cooney is a perfectly fine author, and I can't imagine that the other books would be all that less deserving of republication. Unfortunately, no digital scans out there. All three of her novels are set in Maine, where she is considered a local treasure - it would be nice if a local historical society or something could do something to get these back in print.

Cheryl (cherylllr) | 41 comments Quite some time ago I read a copy of the newer edition - I bet Cooney's is better, at least in the opinions of members of this group!
