message 1: by Melanie, place holding for a future mod (new)

Melanie | 1911 comments I have begun working on a YA challenge for next year (2025) and have landed on the idea of a suggestions based challenge that I have seen another group do. The goal is for y'all to suggest challenge categories for YA books and I can make a formal list and push it out closer to the end of the year.

So toss out your ideas and we'll see what the group manifests!

ex.
-start a new YA series
-read a YA book with a love triangle

DivaDiane SM | 290 comments How about
- Read a YA book with Dragons or
- Read a Middle Grade book or
- Read a YA/MG book with a non-human main character

Jennifer | 456 comments Those are all good ideas.

Melanie | 1911 comments I need more ideas though. Hoping for @ least 12.

Anna | 231 comments -Novel in verse
-non-fiction (this might be too difficult though, maybe just YA historical fiction would be easier)
-continue a YA series you haven't read in over a year
-book released in the last year (or in 2024/2025)
-book that is set on another continent from where you live
-book that is set in a fictional location (could be imaginary or realistic like Genovia in Princess Diaries)

Ashley (ashleycw) | 257 comments I do the challenges in another group that I'm in and use the sight brownielocks.com to get a lot of ideas based on the 'holidays' that month for example

January 2025
Elvis' Birthday Celebration Week: 5-11 - Read that was written or set in the time when Elvis was alive

Carnival Season: Jan. 6- March 4 - Read a book set in a country that celebrates Carnival - or is about a party

Birth Defects Month or Children Impacted By Parent's Cancer Month - Read a book where illness or disability is

These examples might be too specific for what you're going for, but I really like introducing people to this site.
