Magnus Chase and the Gods of Agard The Hammer of Thor
Jack tries to defeat the assassin of Otis, Thor's goat, but he's disappointed that he could only cut their thigh.
He has a date with some sort of armory, so he's excited when he practices fighting.
He sings a Selena Gomez song at some point (yes, I had to include this).
He helps Magnus fight some more (because he's helpless when it comes to fighting, nobody's surprised he's dead), but the important part is that he's besties with Blitzen and that he's a swiftie.

Percabeth this, Beatrice (Alex x Magnus' ship name) that, I BELIEVE IN RIPTIDE X JACK SUPREMACY.
I remember laughing so hard when Jack was flirting with Riptide and now only that, but that's also how Percy finds out that Riptide's a girl.
He helps Magnus fight (again) and then tells him to compliment Njord's feet (Njord is both Magnus' and Blitzen's grandfather, I always forget they are cousins).
He helps Magnus fight (even more) and during these moments, such as when trying to kill Alderman we see their bond and how much they care for each other, we see that Jack isn't just a sword for Magnus and I love that.
He helps de-ice the Big Banana (the Big Banana always makes me laugh, they're so unserious).
He gets annoyed when Magnus uses the Peace of Freyr, but then Magnus promises him that he'll have Bragi write an epic poem about him, so they're cool again.
My opinion
I'll be honest, Jack was my favourite MC character and he is the reason why I like MC more than other RR series. While doing my research for this deep dive, I was so confused because I thought he had a much more major role in MC, but I suppose he's just too iconic, I only remembered his contribution.
Anyway, I didn't manage to get tickets to the Eras Tour, but I hope Jack did. He deserves VIP seats next to Selena Gomez.
The next deep dive is going to be a comparison between The Lost Hero and The Son of Neptune<33

MAGNUS CHASE SPOILERS AHEAD!!
I came back stronger than a 90's trend (get it?) with this deep dive about Jack aka Sumarbrander from Magnus Chase who is not only a sword, but also me if I was a sword. Sorry for taking so long, but I was (am) burnt out because of school, but it's okay, I have 2 weeks off. Thank you to the Romanian Ministry of Education.
He is iconic. Let's discuss.
Sumarbrander in Norse Mythology
In Norse Mythology, Sumarbrander is Freyr's sword, the god is associated with sunshine and summer, and the sword can fight on it's own.
Freyr gave up the sword to marry Geror (I didn't spell it correctly, because I do not have the exact letters on my laptop's keyboard, o had something on top of it), so Freyr will die at Ragnarok (again, o had something on top of it, but I don't have that letter on my keyboard).
There is also a theory in Poetic Edda, that Freyr will die at Sumarbrander's blade - Rick Riordan uses this myth in his Magnus Chase trilogy.
Sadly, while I was doing my research for this deep dive, this was all I could find about The Sword of Summer in Norse Mythology.
Jack in Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard Sword of the Summer
Jack sank alongside a Viking ship in Boston where it was found by Magnus Chase after his uncle Randolph urges him to summon it.
Then Surt appears and demands the sword, but Magnus refuses to go down without a fight and tells him to come and take it himself. But the sword slips out of Magnus' hand at the end of the battle (because his sword fighting skills are close to 0, he's luck Jack can fight by himself).
Jack ends up in Ran's collection and Magnus has to retrieve him.
When Magnus visits Freya, he learns about Jack's origins.
Now here's where it gets interesting.
Magnus was able to hear Jack talk, but as a whisper inside his head. Now, while running away from the dwarves (Taylor Swift mentioned - cheese graters gonna grate, grate, grate and the haters gonna hate, hate, hate), Magnus finds out that Jack can actually talk out loud and while he was fighting the dwarves, he complains that "Sumarbrander" is a long name and that he wants another one and asks Magnus what his new name should be, Magnus replies "I don't know Jack s***" (shout out to Alex Moldovan, the translator of the Romanian version of Magnus Chase for quoting the original quote in the footnotes and explaining where the name Jack came from, lol) and Sumarbrander is like Perfect! My name's Jack now
Magnus learns that when Jack will turn into a pendant, he will feel all the exhaustion Jack felt during the battle and he may pass out or pass away from exhaustion, but great news - Magnus is already dead (btw imagine Nico and Magnus meeting up, like Nico'd be so confused as to how Magnus is dead, but he's alive).
A couple of battles later, we find out that Magnus could use Jack to heal Gunderson.
Special mention: Jack yelling at Freyr when he greets Magnus.
