Many times we talk about characters we swoon about or hate. But who is the character you admire ? And why?

I am halfway through The Eyes and the Impossible by Dave Eggers. I laugh with or at, who knows which the characters in the book. Johannes the dog on the cover he strives to be his best self, does not always meet goals, and tries again. I love love this dog!
I have been reading some very long series for many years now. Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch (and now Renee Ballard)
Harlan Coban's Myron Bolitar
Karin Slaughter's Will Trent
are some favorite characters of mine.
I really admire Elizabeth Zott in Lessons in chemistry. She stays true to herself even though she goes thru lots of things in life.
