Ann (annrumsey) | 17029 comments I got to see Peter Swanson today at the Southern Festival of Books!
He was on a panel with Erica Wright. They both spoke about how they started out writing poetry and moved to prose. Peter mentioned a stand-alone book he is copy editing now to come out next June and Erica talked about her most recent book, Hollow Bones. It sounded intriguing. Peter also mentioned that his book, Eight Perfect Murders has a director attached and a possible movie script is in the works - but who knows with Hollywood. It was great to see him in person.
Carol: I didn't get a chance to stand in the signing line, so I didn't get to speak to him.

Carol/Bonadie (bonadie) | 9536 comments So glad you got to see him, Ann! He is a nice guy and very thoughtful about reading and writing. I understand about not standing in line to get a book signed, I don't do that anymore either. In fact I rarely buy the books unless it's the price of admission.
On a related Nashville topic, I was recently reminded of Ann Patchett's bookstore in Nashville and how I'd hope to swing by there. I was surprised there was nothing offered on the tour of Nashville offered by Bouchercon, it seems like a natural connection even though she doesn't write mysteries (I don't think). They should be supporting local independent bookstores. I wonder if there's a story there.

Ann (annrumsey) | 17029 comments Carol: Ann Patchett's bookstore is a treasure. I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to visit it while in Nashville. It isn't on my way home from work anymore, so I rarely get there - good for my wallet. :) They participate in a big way is all sorts of local book events including the Southern Festival of Books and public library events so imagine it was a matter of having others from out-of-town already lined up at B'Con.
