Would anybody be interested in more group reads?

I'm thinking about 10-12 books a year. So roughly 1 book a month. Starting in January 2025.

So what do you think? Is it a good idea or a bad idea?

EDIT: According to the poll there are enough people interested in continuing.

I picked three books for the first three months of 2025. I am open to suggestions for the rest of the year. I'm not promising to accept all suggested books, but I will consider them.

January, February and March Group Reads:
Legends: Star Wars: The Truce at Bakura
Legends: Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
Canon: Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade

Rebecca | 961 comments Yes! I might be able to read a few Star Wars books this coming year. I only have a few semesters of Grad School left.

That's great, Rebecca! :)

How do you enjoy Grad School? Our school system is different to the US so it was 5 years at the university for me and to work at 24.

I aimed at variety. So something from the Old Republic, High Republic, Prequel era, Clone Wars, in between the PT and OT, OT era, post-OT era. Mostly adult books, but also YA and Middle Grade books and one comic book.

OK. Let's do the first three months of the year and then I'll decide whether to go on, adjust to fewer books, or stop.

message 8: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 961 comments I enjoy it but don't plan to get any more degrees after this one. Two. BAs and 1 MLIS is enough for me. It's been 11 years since I finished my first BA.

message 9: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 961 comments these last two degrees have been done while working full time.

You're fantastic for maintaining motivation. Studying while working is no joke!

Daniel Kupres | 30 comments I swear I responded before but I don’t see it. I’m ready for a new year reading Star Wars books. I noticed you said you were going to select the first 3. Please do so I can add to my library.

Daniel, the first three books are on the homepage:

Star Wars: The Truce at Bakura for January
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith for February
Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade for March

I hope you'll enjoy these.

In my comment above (message #4), you can check out the tentative plan for the rest of the year, but the selected books beyond March, unlike the first three, can change.

Daniel Kupres | 30 comments Just got the reminder for the first book. Should we try to read so much by a certain day to discuss? I’m new to a book club.

We're not that strict, Daniel. The pace is roughly 25% of the book a week. If you're faster, use spoiler tags.

message 22: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 961 comments I'm starting Truce at Bakura while on winter break so that I can talk about it with you all. Spring semester and field experience start up soon.
