My favorite sad books are all by kathleen glasgow, girl in pieces and How to make friends with the dark are my favs. I also like We were liars by e. lockhart.
I don’t typically read a lot of sad novels but Looking for Alaska by John Green was what did it for me. Also a pretty basic one might be The Book Thief.
I read a lot of psychological sad books so idk if they'll make you cry or leave you in a state of numbness BUT a little life, my dark vanessa, no longer human, and I just finished reading acts of desperation which was really good. They're all really good and have really interesting depictions on mental health.
