Hello Everyone,

just wanted to pop in really quick and thank everyone who has joined! If anyone needs any additional resources to get this book let me know. Some additional pieces of media that compliment this book are listed below. If you can think of any other materials that would compliment this book, write them in this discussion post. Thank you!

Documentary: 13th (Ava DuVernay) This documentary on netflix examines the intersection of race, justice, and mass incarceration in the US. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krfcq...

The Innocence Project: Focuses on wrongful convictions and the work being done to free those who have been unjustly imprisoned, focuses on exonerations and justice reform. https://innocenceproject.org/donate-f...

The Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) – Bryan Stevenson’s organization, which continues to fight for justice, exonerations, and death penalty reform. https://eji.org/

Podcast: Serial (Season 1, Episode 3: "The Deal With the Devil")
Focus: Juvenile Justice, Pretrial Detention, and Systemic Injustice
This episode will help deepen our understanding of how the justice system fails juveniles, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and the role institutional power plays in shaping their futures. This podcast is offering a broader lens on the issues of wrongful detention, systemic bias, and the need for reform in how we treat young people within the criminal justice system. I highly recommend listening to the entire podcast if you're interested!

Gabriella T | 1 comments My heart ached in the chapter “I’ll fly away” with the realization that there are so many convictions to life in prison that aren’t fought for the way death row convictions are. They are all equally important but less prioritized due to the urgency of saving someone’s immediate life and that victory for Walt just felt like one small drop in a bucket, or maybe swimming pool :(
