The Weekly debate #1
---------------------------------
In the book series Harry Potter, was Dumbledore a manipulator or just doing good things for Harry and the rest of the wizarding world?

Lily ౨ৎ ( taylor’s version ) | 4 comments His intentions were good but it just didn't work out

message 4: by Jada (new)

Jada Manipulator! There's no way he saw bringing the Triwizard Tournament back as SANE.

but then again the headmasters before him accepted it too?

message 8: by Jada (new)

Jada It was crazy to think it up from the start, I can't say they the best headmasters, either.

message 9: by Jada (new)

Jada Also, Dumbledore had no problem enlisting children to fix the timeline; he could've bent the rules and left Harry with the godfather that actually cared for him.

tbh i think he was tryyying to do the right thing but he was so focused on it he didn't rly think about it the right way, and i rly dont like his methods

Hannahhh ;) [free palestine] (hannahhhfreepalestine) | 25 comments I agree with what kiki said ^^

In my personal opinion I believe that he was a manipulator for several reasons. While his intentions were good they were all buried in the things that he did. If you really think about it, the whole search for the deathly hallows int the last book were all because of him. Almost every single thing that Harry did was directly influenced by something that Dumbledore did. And if you are familiar with fantastic beasts then you know about how Dumbledore gave Newt a thunder bird and suggested that he go to America to bring it back to his how, full well knowing about the fact that Grindlvald was in America perusing Credence. This directly shows his manipulation because he wanted Newt to deal with him, so He left that small hint that knowing Newt's character couldn't resist. There are also other ways that he directly manipulated the golden trio but this is already too long so I'll leave it at that.

ooh yeah i totally agree emilia!
but tbh, i only noticed all this wayyyy after i finished it all. i mean, i think i finished the series when i was like 7 and then for me it was just like Dumbledore is the good guy who helped harry!!!!!
and i think i didn't fully get everything that was going on behind his whole plans until i several rereads later😂

yess kiki same- I was so upset when he died, bcuz he was such a "good" guy.

Now looking back some things were kinda scetchy. I don't think j.k.rowling meant that but I think it comes across as that sometimes.
