I recently read Middlemarch and found it pretty insightful. We follow characters as they make what seem like pretty minor choices which have pretty significant downstream effects on their lives. We watch the characters grapple with the situation they are now living in along with the awareness that (to some degree) they are the cause. Its also about how they re-find purpose (or re-orient themselves) once they find themselves in that position.

I found it parts of Middlemarch a slog at times (I could not care less about the Reform Act), but overall well worth the read. Gave me plenty to reflect on.

For me, the biggest change in perspective came when I stopped chasing what other people expected of me. I realized that joy isn't something you earn through accomplishments. It's something that grows when you learn to appreciate what God has already given you. That shift has brought me much more peace.

My greatest source of meaning has been understanding that my purpose isn't defined by my career or achievements but by my relationship with Christ. One verse that has stayed with me is Matthew 6:33. When I began putting God first, many of the things I used to worry about started falling into their proper place.
