This season we are reading short stories or poetry with horses and ponies, or donkeys and mules. Award yourself a bonus for a Christmas short or poem!

Sign up to the challenge at this link:

https://www.goodreads.com/challenges/...

You can pick how many books you would like to read.
You will be asked which shelf the books to read are on. If you say horse and you do not have a horse bookshelf, Goodreads will put one in to your personal list of shelves.
When you complete a read you have placed on that shelf, Goodreads sees the progress.

Now the challenge registers that you have read some of the books.
Tell us your titles in this thread.

Authors are allowed to mention their own suitable books, as they could read their own books for this challenge.
Series are allowed too.
Have fun!

You can count a novella as a short story. This one looks about perfect. This is a romance for adults so younger readers may not find it that interesting.

Cluasa Capaill ar an Rí by Bridget Bhreathnach is a short story in Irish, based on a Celtic legend.

I just read this tiny book, which shows horses pulling a sleigh, so I'm counting it as a Christmas book too!

I am re-reading my book The Prisoner in the Tower: Short Story & Big Cat Bones which includes plenty of horses, so I decided it fits.

I've had a great question, can you count a short story about a pony in a book of other short stories?
Yes, of course!
You can tell us the title and author of your story, and link to the book where we can find it.

I've just finished this book which is a bit unusual for a stable and riding management book. A fictional character of the author's is given the voice to narrate the content, so she sometimes goes off on a tangent about some of her solved cases. You might like it better if you've read those stories.
The content about horses is interesting and helpful, dealing with eyes, gaits, boredom, tacking up, hacking and general lifestyle of the loose horse.

I fitted in my five stories, and I'm looking forward to our next Challenge. I'll post about that in a couple of days.
