Juju | 2 comments I've just started reading Post Captain (about 4 percent in--Jack and Stephen have just come to Mapes Court), and I'm not instantly captivated as I was with Master and Commander. Can any of you say anything to help me keep going in PC?

Sarah Kauthen (skauthen) | 27 comments Alright, so, this novel is a bit of an aberration in that a lot of it takes place on shore. I wasn't too keen on it, either, it's very Austenesque. But this is an important book because it establishes what will be the family relationships for both Jack and Stephen. It's necessary to get that out of the way, then they're back at sea. The future books do continue to have chapters that take place in Britain but none so heavily as this one.

Thanks, Sarah--very helpful in identifying this book's place in the canon.

Bob Midkiff | 1 comments I found that doing this whole series on Audio Books was way less tedious than trying to read them. When I tried to sit down with the paperback my mind just wondered off from the boredom. The audio version moves along and was quite an improvement for me.

Sarah Kauthen (skauthen) | 27 comments This is fair. I've read the series twice but I still listen to one of the audiobooks a couple times a year to get back into the world and to enjoy the performance.
