Elizabeth (Alaska) Does the count of books apply to all names the author might have published as?

I'm thinking of Frédéric Dard, whose wikipedia page says He wrote more than three hundred novels, plays and screenplays, under his own name and a variety of pseudonyms ...

Joanna (walker) | 2320 comments Yes, we'll accept the total under all different names.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Great! I think I have a couple of other authors who are similarly situated.

Mods ... I have so many books that will fit the already posted task. I am overwhelmed with good reads this season.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Sorry, another question.

Will short stories published as a collection posthumously count toward the 20 books? I can see 2 sides to this.

EDIT: I could also ask about translations, too, where the author in question was the translator.

Books where the author is the translator do not count for this task. Only original works.

Rosemary | 4435 comments Can I please check Thomas Hardy... according to Fantastic Fiction, he published 14 novels, 4 story collections during his lifetime (died Jan 1928), some posthumous short story collections, 5 books of poems in his lifetime (none of them are called "selected" or "collected"), and some posthumous poetry collections:

I'm not sure how many of those would count as separate books. This is just for a combo.

From my research, he's also written two plays which would firmly put him over the 20-book threshold :-)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 3120 comments Do we count novella as a "book" too :)
