The audiobook sounds awesome too! I just can’t miss out on Brom’s illustrations. They are amazing and I definitely have to do the physical copy for this one but might do both if I like it enough! Or switch back-and-forth? 🤔

Im so happy we chose this book. I started reading it just as we were choosing books. I was gonna hold off until everyone started but I am loving it so much and am itching everyday to be able to pick it up again. Im trying to read it slowly but am already half way through. I messaged a bit with Gerald Brom on IG after reading and loving Slewfoot, and he said that Krampus is his favourite that he has written.
That’s awesome! I’ve been trying to wait until December but definitely itching to read it after loving Slewfoot. It’s been on my coffee table staring at me impatiently 👹
I'll sure join the group read. I intended to read Krampus on my own this year so this group will enhance the experience ^^
I had intended to read it this during the holidays this year too. My neighborhood book club read Slewfoot in October and I really enjoyed it. Actually, the host came up to me later and thanked me for reading her book choice because she thought only 3 of us read it. 😂

I haven't been getting notifications for a couple of months now. I've emailed GRs several times, and finally got the "We're looking into this" response.

GoodReads has been terrible at getting notifications out to members.
Always check Horror Aficionados around the middle of the month for the Group Read suggestion thread and a few days after that for the poll. That way you won't miss a thing. :)

I am almost through with The Child Thief after finishing Slewfoot. I'll have to get this as well! I've always been a fan of Brom's art, and it seems like I love his writing too.
I've read this 3 times already I love it so much! I was thinking of rereading it this December. Just might do that! At the very least i'll pop in and see what people are saying. I've also read, and loved, Slewfoot. I need to read more by him though lol.
Yeah after Slewfoot I wanted to read everything by Brom. I also love his illustrations and he has a pretty awesome illustration background creating for video games, D&D, MTG, major advertising companies, etc. I have The Child Thief and hoping to nominate it sometime next year as a group read if the category works out.
I also wanted to read more Brom after reading Slewfoot as a group read. And I already have Krampus because it's a group read next month for another book club I'm in. Can't wait!
hey! I'm new to the group and was wondering if there was a certain date that we had to have these books read. If somoen could please point me in the right direction. Im really excited about the book pics! Ive already read Hidden Pictures but Krampus sounds great too!
Excited to re read one of my favorites! To answer your question Veronica I understand the group starts reading on December first and then goes from there; in my experience it’s usually a week or two then people start discussing til the finish/end of the month.
I couldn’t help myself, the second I saw this was our read yesterday, I scooped up my copy and dug in! I’m half way through and I’m LOVING it so far!
@ Veronica- you have all month to read it and if it takes you a little longer, that’s ok too. We aren’t strict on the time frame. You can start anytime.
I just finished this book for a local book club I'm in. I'm so curious to see what everyone thinks of it. I think I am in the minority when I say I wasn't a huge fan of it. But man the art is gorgeous!
One of these comments said the audiobook was great but you would be missing out on the illustrations. Brom is an amazing illustrator and there are creepy awesome illustrations of the characters.
I have had this book for ages but still haven't read it. I loved Slewfoot, Lost Gods and The Child Thief. Now I'm glad that I haven't read it yet and I can share the experience with you all. :)
I just finished this on a plane ride home and it was fantastic! So happy this group introduced me to the book. Can’t wait to see what other people have to say.
It's on deck on my tbr. It's been a dismal December of reading so far with Infinite Jest and now The Women, but this one promises to get the month back on track.

I'm 5% into the audiobook which sounds good so far. Wish they had the print book at my library- I'd love to see the illustrations. Anyway, enjoying it so far, looking forward to hearing. what everyone thinks.

Slewfoot was great! Enjoy!
Slewfoot was great! Enjoy!
47% and I'm dragging. Jesse is unfathomably stupid and I can't stand the guy.I'm only sticking to the book for Krampus and Santa
Char wrote: "80 pages in now and I'm having a good time! I like Jesse and I'm rooting for the guy."So did I!
The "Afterword: In Search of Krampus" almost made me raise my rating by a .5 star; but I decided to go with my reaction to the text of the story.my short review
About 115 pages in now. Why all the hate for Jesse? I like the guy and I always find underdog stories compelling. He's a decent guy trying to stay true to himself and he loves his daughter, even if he isn't the brightest bulb on the tree, so to speak.
The guy just gets on my nerves. I won't spoil here so I can't say much but I really don't understand his choices nor why he's delaying that much on his talent when that said delaying is the key of his trouble with wife and his daughter so.I'm not far from DNFing. I'll go to the third part and see if I'll go further or not. For the moment or not seems appealing
I am about 30% in. I like Jesse well enough- he seems to have a good heart despite not being particularly smart.
The early part of the book focused a lot on Jesse, and that dragged a bit. I definitely think the story picks up/ improves once Jesse is around Krampus and company.
I'm losing interest and just looking forward to the end. That's not a good mindset to read a book so I'm going to stop reading it now. Too bad it wasn't for me.I hope it won't be the same for all of you🤞
I'm about 150 pages in and still enjoying myself, but I guess I'm in the minority here. At least I'm knocking something off my TBR no matter how I feel about the book in the end.
@Char- I'm enjoying it too! Maybe everyone else who is enjoying it is too busy reading it to comment here! :)
I enjoyed the book, I just thought the insanely melodramtic human events were a little too 'Dukes of Hazzard'-ish (tho Boss Hogg instead of the General might have been interesting) and didn't really let the Santa/Krampus rivalry shine. In fact, that rivalry felt more like a subplot than the story.
Lol, just got to a pivotal point in the book- no spoilers- suffice to say THIS is what a war on Christmas really looks like! 😅Is anyone else still reading this one?
I'm right about in the middle. I'm enjoying it but at the same time don't find it compelling. I keep finding other things I'd rather do than read it so it's dragging a bit. 🤷♀️(view spoiler)

Please use spoiler tags when necessary, and page numbers/percentage read so we don't spoil it for others.
Happy Reading!
