I recently re-read the masterpiece The Day of the Jackal. This was before I became aware of the new Apple TV series. I haven't watched the new series, but the trailers for it seem to disregard the author's intent and delve into a mix of BOURNE IDENTITY and Tom Cruise's MISSION IMMPOSSIBLE. Watching the trailer - which featured scenes we've already seen before many times, I wondered why didn't they just base their series ENTIRELY from the novel. The Edward Fox film was a brilliant unmatched classic, but it was unable to cover everything that was in the novel, impossible in a movie's two hour running time. Well, once again, I enjoyed the novel on many the levels. The story itself, the writing and the creative courage it took to write such a classic.

Andrew: Thanks for posting. I actually haven't read the book (yet) Will have to see about lining it up. Some TV series follow faithfully to the books (Apple+'s Slow Horses come to mind) and some do not. Andrew wrote: "I recently re-read the masterpiece The Day of the Jackal.
