The world felt real. I liked Tyrion and Arya. Arya reminded me of my daughter :)
This is a really good book series. But the problem with it for me is that the characters and the plot in it are very clearly inspired by the Osten Ard books by Tad Williams. Having read those books a bit earlier, I just giggled at the supposedly heartbreaking and dark episodes when I read GoT.However, the world building is really great. So I understand why people are praising this story.
I read Game of Thrones quite a long while ago. While I do recall the characters and events, I dont remember anymore who was my fav. I remember the books more for its style and structure than I do for its characters. I do recall that I thought it did them well. I think, I liked Eddard the best, but...he was not a survivor of the book.
I'm really hoping book Tyrion and Jon will be more competent than their TV show counterparts, and Dany less of a Mary Sue. When the show surpassed the books, the writing and characters became very bad, but I know G.R.R.M. is fairly good at writing.Well, when he does write. Sadly, this seems like another epic series that will be finished off by Sanderson.
The last sentence of this post seems to be one of the best examples of a very dark sense of humour. My applause.
Sanderson says he wont do it.
Personally, i think Martin will not finish the series. He does not seem to have the love for it that would drive him to it, and given his age and weight, I suspect its a big ask.
But if he needs someone, im available ;).

Despite my snark, I actually subscribe to the conspiracy theory that the last two books are already finished. My view of it is that, if they're published now, everyone will find issue with it and say "oh, the ending was botched so the whole series is junk!" But if they're published posthumously, then they'll be universally hailed as brilliant, securing his legacy for eternity. He already has huge revenue from his sales and screen deals, so it's not like he needs to worry about the money; it's his reputation he's looking out for now, and death will ensure there's little criticism.
Grim, perhaps, but it's the only logical answer in my head. How can someone pour that much work into something and then have no motivation to finish it?
If anyone needs a professional writer and a book developmental editor, kindly reply or DM me for a recommendation.

I think you'll do as well as Sanderson could.
Sanderson gets a lot of credit for his magic systems, and those are not a focus of mine. Martin is trying to show a fantasy story without a dark lord, and a lot of black and white issues. I think he would put me in the category of those he was trying to write differently from.
I think stylistically, Martin shares a harshness about the world that I also portray, but he would not appreciate some of my religious themes. I don't think I'd be a good match.
Really...he has to do it.
But...Im a nobody ;) I wont be holding my breath waiting to get asked.

I did not think you were serious ;)
Many think Sanderson did a better job than Jordan on the last books of the series. I found Jordan hard to read. But, I feel for him. Imagine spending your whole life writing a series and then to die before its finished. I'd not want to go to my grave like that.
But...I think Martin will not finish Game of Thrones. When I see him in interviews, I don't see that his heart is really in it.

Sansa Stark and Tyrion Lannister are my favorite characters. Sansa because that's just what I was like when I was young, always too wrapped up in my dreams to see what really matters. Tyrion for his sarcastic sense of humor.
