This was a quite sweet book that imagines that Ada Lovelace and Mary Shelley meet as girls and form a detective agency. Aged just 11 and 14, the girls join together to form a secret society to apprehend clever criminals, with their first case involving a stolen heirloom. The agency seems set up to resemble that of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, and I really liked that real figures from history appeared in this novel. There was a lot of action, humour and intrigue in this book, and I can see that this book would be successful in getting young girls interested in the STEM subjects. I would really like to continue with this series, but unfortunately, my library doesn’t have the other books.

I thought the writing was too simplistic, but I really admire these two young women, so I pushed through. (I kept falling asleep, and at the time I blamed the book. Though maybe it was unfair. I didn’t know yet that I had Covid.)

I've only had Covid once, and luckily I only had a sore throat, but I know it can really impact some people for a couple of weeks after.
I understand what you mean about the writing being simplistic, but I think for what it was aiming to do for its target audience, it was a really good book.
