I want everyone to read Ten Girls to Watch, which I know some of you have, because Katie rec'ed it to me? BUT IT'S SO GREAT.Or maybe a Frances Hardinge, for the weirdness. And awesomeness.
Since I'm already reading it, The Royal We is pretty amazing. I decided to not just goof off online in favor of reading. Like, insert the gif of Andy Samberg portraying Nicholas Cage saying THAT'S HIGH PRAISE because when it comes to me, it is. I think it would probably be really fun to discuss.
I just updated for our May book, so if you've got ideas that you want put to a vote this month, this is where they go!
Because a bunch of us will be reading it anyway and it releases June 2--Suddenly One Summer by Julie James.
Not all of them, I don't think, so I may sit that one out if I don't catch up (I'm somewhat obsessive about reading series in order).
Okay!(I am not always opposed to romantic drama. Just when it is a kind of drama I don't like//wasn't expecting... Really, just if the drama is not specifically what I wanted for the book. I am unreasonable that way.)
It's a series, but it's not a series-series. They can all be read as stand-alones if you want to read them that way.
Ha, I think for me a lot of it is whether or not the drama makes SENSE or if it just feels like, "Oh no! Time for a romantic crisis!"Because drama can be GREAT--it just usually feels too calculated.
Yes, to be fair, that would definitely count as a kind of drama I don't like. Drama that works in the context of the story is better.
Nomination for a future month - Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. Fairly recent release (April 2015) with really great reviews. Mostly I just got the e-book from the library, so I'm nominating it.
Secret Society Girl! Okay, I knows we read it on LJ, but:1. That was a long time ago.
2. It's still awesome.
3. I know I'm not the only one itching for a re-read.
We are definitely doing Julie James this month (I will put up the thread tonight), so SSG would be July if it is the crowd favorite.
