Morning,
The name is M - I am a strong mood reader, can go months without reading then suddenly ready 15 books in a month.
Dont really have a favourite character - currently re-reading Assistant to the Villian and I love Evie <3

Hello, everyone. You may call me Urek (it's the name of my favourite character from Tower of God). I love reading books of various genres in various formats. I just joined the group and am pretty new to Goodreads, too.
Currently, I'm reading five books simultaneously: two fiction books, one classic fiction, one self-help book, and one non-fiction book.
I'm looking forward to having a great time with you guys.

Is it? This is the first time I’ve heard about it. I can't say for sure, but it works for me since I can be a bit moody with my reading. Switching up genres keeps things interesting. But, honestly, it can be a bit of a double-edged sword; sometimes a book really grabs me, and I end up just diving into that one and ignoring the others.

I have a request. I've never tried romantasy but love romance as a subplot in fantasy and always wanted more of it. Can you guys recommend some good romantasy books with great world-building and engaging plots? I will add them to my TBR list.

the a court of thorns and roses series my favourite every fantasy series, the way the story builds is incredible!

dance of thieves is another really good romantasy.

I always heard this, my sister is a reader and she doesnt get in book slumps like i do (I am a very big mood reader) as she reads self help books and her murder mysterys and thrillers :)

It does depend on what you you want more... the fantasy aspect or the romance.
I'm not a big fan of ACOTAR (tried reading several times but cant do it - or Sarah's other series) but it could be for you!
I love a good fantasy with a sprinkling of romance... Defo recommend Across the Nightinggale Floor

I have also heard Zodiac Academy is really good, but that is currently on my TBR to read in 2025 :)

Assistant to the Villain is a re-read... its an easy read with sass and "OMG will you just kiss each other already" moments :P

I have heard about the fourth wing but haven't read it yet. I think I won't like full-blown romance that much, but a novel with romance as a secondary focus might work for me. but I can't tell for sure without giving it a try. Thank you for your recommendations.

For me it’s definitely acotar what did you find difficult to get into in that series?

Fourth wing was a 5 star for me however I didn’t like the second book very much I am going to read the third book, though I’m not as excited about as some others coming next year.

I dont think I could connect to Feyra (?) Ive honeslty tried 3 times to pick this book up and cant get past 50%... ive heard people say I should power through as book 2 is where it is at... but i cant... maybe 2025 is the year for it though lol

I actually preferred the second book LOL iron flame over the fourth wing but i think its cuz the story developed a bit more and the ending was just "MIND BLOWING" I have pre-order 3rd book but can see it being sat on shelf for a bit lol


Honestly, best thing to do it to read a mix to find what you like. I like more fantasy than romance in a novel... if I want romance, i read a romance lol

you need to read the second book of acotar! seriously gets really good after the first book. maybe you could scan read through the first next year and see what you think of some of the scenes in the second one. did you read any other of sarahs books?

Yeah, read the whole of the Throne of glasses series and loved it!
I tried reading her new one as well "crescent city series" but couldnt get in to that either.... maybe I need to re-read throne of glass and do like a tandam read or something lol

I really want to get in to them! the world is amazing and all the bits ive seen and read on here it sounds like my kinda story.

just thought I should warn you that zodiac academy is a bully romance series I enjoy reading that genre however as you said you didn’t I just wanted to tell you

at the moment I’m currently reading city of gods and monsters 700+ pages so long one, I’m at 70% and so far it’s a 4 star. love to hear what your current read is?!

fantasy over romance probably, especially the second one, I scan read book 2 because I had to know what went on however I also wasn’t feeling it enough to read the whole book as it’s at 900+ pages .

I'm enjoying them and might finish them all by the end of this year... although after reading a few reviews, apparently it goes down hill at book 7?

your on book 5! omg that’s amazing book 5 is my fav out of the series and the end in that one I just couldn’t stop saying no. I didn’t guess what their order was going to be lol. I did guess something to do with a nymph and I found that bit so upsetting when it was all revealed, trying to say it without spoilers so hopefully you understand what I’m trying to say. I wouldn’t say after book 7 it’s not as good, I would say the first books are better than the last and at the very end my biggest problem was it just… ending. it felt so unreal after reading about the characters for so long

I think my favourite series right now is a tie (ha) between The Bonds that Tie and Throne of Glass.. I don’t think I could ever choose a favourite book though!

Hi :) I’m Brooke! I live in Seattle, WA and am pretty new to romantasy (last 2 months or so) but I’m in deep😂 ACOTAR got me hooked of course. Other books I’ve loved have been the Throne of Glass series, Quicksilver, Throne of the Fallen, and am currently reading the Crowns of Nyaxia series!

shadow keeper brooke welcome ! it hooks you and never lets you go *lol*. love the acotar series it’s my top fav *rhysand*. tog and quicksilver same I’ve got throne of the fallen need to read it! I did read the first crown of nyxia book, really need to reread to see my official thoughts on it before carrying on.

I’ve re-read TOG a few times now and it breaks my heart and puts it back together every time! I think my favourite book is probably Heir of Fire - and, somewhat boringly, Aelin is my favourite but I think Manon is second!

I did the Tandem Read second time around, and think it’s the best way to go, even if Chaol makes me want to bash my head against the wall sometimes 😂

the assassins blade and empire if storms are my fav. love manon and bryaxis. tandem read I’d recommend to everyone I agree there’s just something about chaol that makes you want to attack him *lol* nesyrn the chapters were so boring for her story in my opinion what did you think?

Chaol and Nesryn are definitely less interesting.. but I think Sartaq and Irene are amazing so at least there’s some excitement for their chapters 😂 I really wasn’t a fan of Nesryn when she was first introduced, but she did grow on me.
Elide… I know everyone loves her but she’s not one of my favourites? She does have the most incredible stories though so I love her for that! And Lorcan is just… damn… so maybe I’m just jealous of Elide? 😂 YES Fenrys is one of my favourites as well, my heart broke for him with what happened with Connall 💔

Fourth Wing hooked me but so many have kept me here. more recently tog, empire of flame and thorns, veiled kingdom, Riftborne.

I'm a nerd in everyway (video games, series, movies) , my favourite book series and movies of all time are LOTR. I'm aiming to read 50 books this year and have read 8 so far. my favourite book boyfriend is xaden and my favourite FMC is Selena from empire of flame and thorns 💁🏻‍♀️

@arwen I'm not far into Riftborne yet, maybe about 15%, it seems to be a unique and interesting world/magic system. the world is written beautifully, almost in prose.

Hello all, excited to be here! I've been reading romantasy for a long while, it's my all-time favorite genre! ^^ My fave books are Caraval, Lightlark, and Throne of the Fallen + Throne of Secrets. (I really love those princes of sin!)

I have a ton of top characters, probably too many, but some are Oro (Lightlark), Prince Lust (Kingdom of the Wicked/ Prince of Sin), Alessandra (The Shadows Between us), and Kallais (same as Alessandra)!

I'm currently reading Powerless, and hoping to get my hands on Serpent and Dove soon :)

Hi Everyone! I’ve just joined the group as I have recently reignited my love for reading! I was always a huge reader when growing up and fell in love with fantasy as a genre -I was heavily influenced by twilight, the Night World Series and hush, hush as a teen and spent an ungodly amount of time reading whatever Vampire or Werewolf Wattpad fic I could get my hands on😅
Now in my late 20’s I’ve decided to stop hiding the fact that I’m a sucker for a good Romantasy book and am hoping to meet people with a similar love for the genre! I’m open to recommendations for most genres, but I have a soft spot for Fantasy, Romantasy, Sci-Fi, and a bit of Crime (I love all things true crime!)
I’ve just finished Fourth Wing after a year long reading slump and fell in love immediately (I finished it in like 8 hours haha! I don’t think I’ve been so invested in a book since reading Twilight for the first time!) and quickly bought Iron Flame, however I’ve paused reading it temporarily as I don’t want to finish the series too fast. I’m currently 60% of the way through Quicksilver and am loving every second!
