🏆 *Updated* Scoring System
1. Page Points
0.01 points per page (with rounding)
100 to 149 pgs = 1pt
150 to 249 pgs = 2pts
and so on…
2. Task Completion
10 points for each monthly theme task completed
Maximum of 100 points per month (10 tasks x 10 points)
3. Bonus Genre
Additional 5 points if the task is completed with a book from the monthly bonus genre
4. Reviews and Summaries
5 points for each book review or summary submitted
Reviews must be at least 200 words to qualify
5. Discussions
5 points for active participation in each book discussion
Discussions must be held in the Buddy Read folder with a mod-approved thread
6. Team Reading Challenge
2 bonus points per book if the entire team reads the same book in a month
7. Diversity Reading Bonus
5 bonus points for reading a book by an author from an underrepresented group or a book translated from another language
8. Monthly Milestone Bonus
50 points if the team completes at least 80% of their monthly reading goals
9. Quarterly Milestone Bonuses
25 points if the team maintains an 80% or higher completion rate of their reading goals for the entire quarter
10. Team Balancing Bonus
To recognize teams that exceed their expected reading totals based on their combined maximum capacities, there is a Team Balancing Bonus. This bonus rewards teams for pushing beyond their limits while maintaining individual reading caps:
5% over Expected Total: 50 bonus points
10% over Expected Total: 100 bonus points
15% over Expected Total: 150 bonus points
20% or more over Expected Total: 200 bonus points
Example: If your team has a combined capacity of 36 books but reads 40 books in a month (11.11% over), your team will earn 100 bonus points.
11. Team Improvement Bonus
To encourage consistent growth and effort, there is a Team Improvement Bonus:
If your team increases its total books read compared to the previous month, you’ll earn an additional 30 bonus points. This bonus applies every month, rewarding teams for striving to improve regardless of their starting point.
Example: If your team read 29 books in Month 1 and increases to 35 books in Month 2, you’ll earn this bonus.
12. Adaptive Scoring System
To level the playing field further, there is an Adaptive Scoring System based on each team’s total monthly reading capacity:
Tier 1 (41-50 books): No multiplier
Tier 2 (31-40 books): 1.1x multiplier
Tier 3 (21-30 books): 1.2x multiplier
All points earned by the team (including bonuses) will be multiplied by this factor at the end of each month. However, if your team exceeds its tier’s capacity (e.g., a Tier 3 team with a capacity of 28 books reads into Tier 1 territory by completing 45 books), the multiplier will no longer apply. This adjustment ensures fairness as teams progress into higher tiers.

Hello! I'm from North Carolina and am also looking forward to this challenge!! January is going to take forever to get here lol
Hi Team! Your team sheet has been updated with the new scoring system:

Jessica wrote: "I tried to open the links and they say "link invalid". I can try Monday from a desk top of needed"I am trying on iPad and iPhone and it opens for me does the app ur using need an update
everything on my end (Goodreads app and Google) shows up to date. I'll try on Monday when I'm at work on a computer. I could just be the Goodreads app.
Jessica wrote: "everything on my end (Goodreads app and Google) shows up to date. I'll try on Monday when I'm at work on a computer. I could just be the Goodreads app."Strange one I use website not the app so that may be an idea
I have been able to pull it up on my computer. I have noticed I can't use Internet Explorer anymore for Goodreads though. Had to switch to Google Chrome to make it work. Not sure if that could be it.
TLDR: I was able to open spreadsheetI was able to open it this morning on my work computer. I can now open the spreadsheet on my phone through the google sheets app (it shows up in my recently opened files).
IDK why the goodreads app wouldn't let me open it, but, honestly, the goodreads app isn't all that good. And when I try to open goodreads on chome on my phone, it re-directs anything I do to the app, ugh.
But I think I am on the right track now that I got the spreadsheet to open. Sorry for the essay lol.

Glad you were able to get it fixed! :)
So question for everyone, once we know the theme for January, do we want to talk about a possible book or books to read for some bonus points?

Sharon wrote: "So question for everyone, once we know the theme for January, do we want to talk about a possible book or books to read for some bonus points?"I am willing to try and read some of the same books if we want to give it a go.
Kat wrote: "I think if u read the group reads it gets bonus points maybe ask in a and a :)"You do but there is another opportunity for bonus points that if everyone in our group read the same book we would get bonus points as well. It was just a suggestion. Nevermind

Not offended at all! There is a lot of information so I thought I might have read it wrong. I have been signing up and going through all my different events all day today so I was afraid I was looking at the wrong event lol
I tend to read mysteries, thrillers, fantasy, cozy mysteries, historical fiction, sci-fi.

I like my thrillers, so not sure if two of us can read same book and get bonus points or it has to be all
It does have to be the whole group so we can see if the others read thrillers :) I do have The Spellshop book for January so I will be doing the group read next month too
Sharon wrote: "It does have to be the whole group so we can see if the others read thrillers :) I do have The Spellshop book for January so I will be doing the group read next month too"
OKay, The Spellshop is a different group...see I'm getting all mixed up. I do have The Last House Guest to get some extra points lol
I know what you mean I get mixed up too. I don’t have that one I have
The After Wife
My Murder
Any good for u or anyone else

Ur welcome
I’ve found out we all have to read same book to get bonus points. Jessica and Erica would you be interested in reading My Murder
Looks good. I just placed it on hold on Libby. Libby says wait time is about 2 weeks, I will update when I am able to check it out.
Sounds good. 😌 I’m realising buddy reads get us more points than team reads so if we three read my murder we’d get more points. I don’t have any books for the weekly themes though
Sounds good, just let me know what I need to do to get the most points for the team. I am open to about anything. I just don't read sci-fi, fantasy or horror. And all my books come from Libby or free on Amazon (I don't have KU or anything like that).
I will read pretty much anything to go in on buddy reads with you guys.I will plan on My Murder and will find something that works for the • Week 1 (January 8-14): Books with Strong Female Leads 💪
To be honest strong female leads may work for the first one I’m planning but not sure.. I don’t think it starts until 8th. Some may work but doesn’t come across in blurb.
Jessica wrote: "I'm still trying to figure out where I want to start. I need to finish my current book first."Fair enough. I’m lucky that quite a few of my planned reads count for the spreadsheet prompts
Just thought I’d know people know I found this book set at New Year’s Eve https://www.amazon.co.uk/Auld-Acquain...
