Terry and I will be doing a buddy read for Prodigal Son, (Orphan X #6) starting around December 22nd/23rd.
All are welcome to join if you’re reading the series and up to this book. Please use spoilers for discussion.

I’ve got lots of family activities in the next few days BUT I’m not working. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂🤣

I’m thinking I could start tomorrow possibly. We host on Christmas so lots of cleaning to do. Probably won’t make a lot of progress until Thursday.

I’m in the same boat. Don’t have much time to read in the next few days. Family time has taken over. Hahaha
Let’s just start on Thursday then if that works? I’m good with that.

I got started today and read up to ch8. (view spoiler)[ Not exactly where I thought this one would start. I was pretty shocked Evan was with the art lady and not Mia the way the last book ended. I’m totally curious to see how their relationship is going forward once we hear from Mia again. (hide spoiler)]

I got started yesterday and super happy to get into this one. The other two books that I’m reading are just “okay” and this one is already making me excited to read.
I got up to the beginning of Chapter 9. I totally agree. I wasn’t expecting Evan (view spoiler)[ to be hooking up with a random lady instead of Mia. It will be interesting to see where he takes this relationship since she really sees him now. (hide spoiler)]

I get it now Char! I love this book series and couldn’t be happier when I pick up a Orphan X book!

I don't even like action-type books or movies, but sit me down with an Orphan X book and I'm happy as hell. :)

I’ve heard that about Joe Ledger as well. Definitely a series we need to get to.

I'm up to chapter 20 so I should be able to get caught up later today.

We got in last night from Texas. It was raining but I didn't mind. That wind is brutal and I forget how bad it is at times! hahaha

I’m curious your take in ch27 on (view spoiler)[ Danny. Do you end up feeling sorry for him? I can’t tell if I think that was the author’s intention or not. I find myself conflicted. He’s earned his place in prison, but it certainly is partly at least, a product of his upbringing. So I feel sorry for his upbringing situation. It’s such a hard situation to think about and decipher feelings about. (hide spoiler)]

Yeah, I'm like you and felt lots of conflicting emotions with (view spoiler)[Danny. It shows how he's a product of his upbringing and didn't really have a chance. I think it's similar to how Evan feels for him while they are talking. We're also feeling the same as a reader.
He's sad for Danny but also relieved that he didn't turn out this way. Then he feels the guilt for not turning out like Danny.

Lots of conflicting emotions in this book and I love how more evolved this is for Evan and me, the reader! (hide spoiler)]

I made it to ch42. I have to admit that ch41 (view spoiler)[ scared me a little bit. To think of drones like that as the next weapon on the level of nuclear weapons is a bit worrisome. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is a real thing out there. (hide spoiler)]

In ch44 (view spoiler)[ Molleken is reminding me of a Bond villain at this point. Don’t really know if he’s the bad guy yet though, or just being used. (hide spoiler)]

I read both of your spoilers and agree! I think (view spoiler)[Molleken is on the spectrum so he’s brilliant but as for thinking deeper thoughts such as “should I make this because humans can be terrible” doesn’t even register for him.

Oh my goodness!! I finished last night and here are some thoughts.

(view spoiler)[I was not expecting his mom to die as soon as she showed up in his & Andre's life. And his penthouse exploding like that?! Holy shit, that was a crazy ending and just makes you want to pick up the next book right afterwards.

I've noticed for a guy that doesn't want connections, he seems to be pilling a lot up with Joey, Tommy, Candy, Mia, Peter and now Andre!! :D hahaha
I've become so invested in each one of these characters. It's crazy how emotional this series has made me.

And yeah, you were correct on Molleken! I loved seeing his insect drones destroy him. It was satisfactory in so many ways. LOL (hide spoiler)]

Me too!! We'll have to schedule the next one soon. I've got a bit of a full plate in the next few weeks, but I don't see why we can't get to Dark Horse soon. I can also wait a bit and start it in February if that works too?

Yeah, the secondary characters in this feel exactly like how I feel about the characters in Charlie Parker! Speaking of, we need to get back to that too. Ahhhhh! hahaha

Too many books, not enough time!! :(

No kidding! I’m good either way on Dark Horse, either in a few weeks or in February. I do have two buddy reads starting Feb 1, Foucault’s Pendulum and Guns of the Dawn that may take me a few weeks to get through, so I’ll need to work around those. I agree on CP, too. Maybe after dark horse, we squeeze that one in before moving onto book 8 in OX.

Sounds good! We can always wait until you’re done with your buddy reads and start Dark Horse. I have a couple of book group reads that I need to start in a couple of weeks for February. I should be done around the same time (maybe middle of February or sooner. Who knows?!)

We’ve only got books 7, 8 and 9 to read before we’re caught up with his current book coming out this year.

And yes to getting to CP afterwards!

Sounds good - middleish of February for Dark Horse, The Furies right after that. It will be a shame to catch up on OX! I wasn’t prepared for how much I was going to enjoy this series.

Sounds great on mid February and The Furies after. I’ll see if Tosh wants to join the CP buddy read too.

Excellent. I also let Kristen know we’ll be reading it end of Feb or beginning of March as she’s currently reading The Nameless Ones.
